Poll Results On Gary Cahill

Poll Results On Gary Cahill

Vital Villa asked in a poll suggested by Christo, should Gary Cahill be tried up front?

Seems the answer is a resounding NO! Despite his fantastic shot against Bolton at the weekend and the legendary goal against Small Heath, 70% feel he is better used as a central defender.

Would be a great idea for the current strikers to watch Cahill though, you never know, they might decide to shoot themselves then, that is shoot the ball, not actually shoot themselves you understand?

3% were unsure leaving 26% saying the young defender should play up front.

Vital Villa madness!

Our latest poll asks if Wilfred Bouma is any good, seems at the moment he is!

In the years to come I would hope so, certainly got a sweet shot on him

He has the ability to become an outstanding central defender. Still has a lot to do, a lot to learn, and a lot to prove, but lets leave him as is, and allow him to develop into the quality performer he can become.

Strange poll - I think we would all doubt MO'N's sanity if he went with a Cahill/Baros front two!! And Bouma it does not look like opinion is divided (65% Yes) at the moment - but I seem to remember him playing centre-back with previous clubs and I don't think he has been given a run in that position. I dont know if he has all the attributes but it may be worth giving him a go out there. There has also been talk of Ridgewell being a competent leftback where he played when Hughes came on v Sheff Utd. May be a re-jigged back four may be the answer??? But as many people have said on this message board - our back four is fine. We have other priorities - a right winger and big no.9 type forward. At best it means Shaun Wright-Phillips and Dean Ashton. But more likely David Nugent and another good'un from the Championship (Lee Cook???).

For some reason I am just fascinated with Freddy Bouma - I remember being really excited when he came to the club because I remember him being good on Pro Evo! According to his Wikipedia entry, "At PSV, he played as a left winger and as forward because of his quick pace and direct passing, teaming up with Arnold Bruggink and at times, with Ruud van Nistelrooy." I am pretty surprised by this as he always seems a bit of a beef-cake and i definitely remember seeing someone jog past him as he appeared to be running in slow motion.
