'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Angel For Christmas?

Juan Pablo Angel says he won't be sulking, he'll just work hard at getting his chance again after being dropped to the bench in the last few games with Milan Baros taking his place.

He said: 'I am just waiting for another chance. I am really looking forward to when that happens. I was desperate to come on against Bolton at the weekend. I only played a few minutes but I am still in there. I am here to add to the team. I am not going to be sulking around. Of course, I like to play and be involved and I had my chance at the beginning of the season.'

'I have played well for the team, have scored a few goals (4 Prem, 3 League Cup) and I am waiting for the chance again. I am ready for it when it comes. The manager makes the decisions and I am here for the team. There will be a chance again for me to get back in.'

He also says it is crucial that Villa are up there in European contention in order to be able to attract new players to the club in January.

'If you are a struggling team, it is difficult to attract quality players. If we can hang on where we are at the moment, just outside the top six, we will have more chances to bring in good players. If we can have more depth in the squad, it will be better and the more quality we have, the more chance we have to compete at the highest level.'

Not sure I'd have Baros ahead of Angel, would you? With Angel you always know he will at least cover every blade of grass and will track back and help in defence.

Baros or Angel, straight choice?
The Fear
Glad you've got an Angel for Xmas cos there ain't much chance of finding Three Wise Men!

As neither Angel or baros have exactly set the premiership alight this season I think MON is still trying to figure out his best combination. Yes Angel does do more work defensively but Baros has looked brighter the last couple of games. Hard call to make I think but on balance an in form Baros might JUST have the edge over an in form Angel.

Good attitude from Angel though.

Mix + match time of the season.

Interestign situation because Sutton looks the main man at the moment and you can't see Angel partnering him as it offers no pace to the team then.

Baros went from looking completely disinterested to running around like a nutter on sat, it was a pleasure to see, could have been down to match fitness earlier in the season, hope he now starts to perform like we know he can, nice of MON to give his confidence a boost by picking him ahead of Angel who was obviously the harder working, Some players are mentaly fragile it looks like Baros fits into that, Sutton up front with Gabby and either Baros/Angel in a 4 3 3, still cant work out why he dropped that formation when Moore got injured, it seemed to be working well. I dont think that Juan Pablo has done badly this season, I just dont think he's done enough. A new striker(s) will arrive either in January, or failing that then very definitely during the summer, so he may well be living on borrowed time at Villa Park right now. He's got the right attitude though, so hopefully he'll still prove a few of us wrong before the eventual parting of the ways.

Baros for me everytime. Baros has had a hard time of it because he was being played with Angel. He looks a much better player alongside Sutton or Gabby.

Realistically neither Baros or JPA have a long term B6 future. We need to be looking elsewhere.
