Neil Warnock On Martin O'Neill

Neil Warnock says no matter which team Martin O'Neill joined, he knew the Irishman would be a success.

Under O'Neill we have just two losses out of 16 Premiership games, Warnock, whose team faces Villa tonight, said:

'He's had a great start to the season. But then I think wherever he would have gone, the side he would have been in charge of would be in the top half, top six. So I'm not surprised at what he's done at Villa, even though he's not changed many players. He's bought one or two, brought on a few others, and I'm sure he'll continue to do well.'

'I think he's had a few more glamorous clubs than me though! But we do have a similar sort of style. He is very passionate and caring, and like me, he lets rip at times. That shows how we are. Martin's a smashing bloke. I like him on and off the field and it's nice to be competing with one another at the top level.'

Irritates me a bit that he's comparing himself to MON coz I detest Warnock with a passion. Horrible bloke.

warnock is ok, wouldnt be too hapy if he was in charge at villa though!.......bits nuts as times, the game needs more managers like him! Holloway would be funny in the premiership

Fair comment, but I like to see people who are passionate about what they do, can not understand those that can passively watch a game, like it does not matter!! It just shows a lack of involvement, which is why it is such a pleasure to see MON jumping up and down and kicking every ball, UTV

Couldnt agree more. I love the site of managers pulling their hair out on the touchline. The only managers who can sit in the dug outs and not be passionate are the ones who've been in the game long enough and have excellent reputations (fergie, wenger, capello etc). . Their players re-act without pep talks, if they dont they wont play.......We then have the impersonators (mclaren, DOL and Sven) who by acting silent think they are tricking everyone into believing they are expert tacticians when all they play is long ball? ******* turnips

Interesting view of McClaren, who is IMO an excellent coach. problem is as England manager he is over-promoted and useless at PR. Regarding Mr Warnock, I still remember Big Ron hitting him with his programme for telling his players to main a Villa player. Cheered up a boring game!

Apparently, a lot of players and managers refer to Warnock as "Colin". Reason being "Neil Warnock" is an anagram of "Colin *****er"...

I actually like Neil Warnock. The guy talks a lot of sense.
