'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martin O'Neill Has Written To Santa!

Martin O'Neill says that Randy Lerner will soon be concentrating 100% on Villa as the NFL season comes to an end and Randy's other team, the Cleveland Browns have failed to qualify for the end of season play offs for the Super Bowl.

O'Neill said: 'I spoke with Randy Lerner when he was over here last week. There is nothing to report that you wouldn't already know. He's keen to do well and for the football club - and I think he will. At this moment, he is doing a lot of commuting but the American football season will soon be over, certainly for the teams not involved in the play-offs, and Cleveland are not going to make those.

'He will then be able to devote a lot of time over here and that's his intention.'

O'Neill added: 'I haven't handed Randy Lerner a wish list. Santa Claus has got my first list and then I'll think about the new year after that.'

Quality quote, just how much of a star is Martin O'Neill?! Just great after the last managers dour mutterings to have someone with a sense of humour.

"I haven't handed Randy Lerner a wish list" presume the second list is a lot lot longer.

Routledge and Defoe please. Followed by Bridge and Matt Taylor. Milner if possible and Thompson of Celtic -...loads of experience and never should've let him go.

Is signing Reo Coker and Darren Bent a possibility?
Christo
Both heading towards the fizzy pop league so why not.
silkie villain
lucas neill, L. bains/bridge not fussed reo-coker, Bent, Defoe and either milner or routledge and matt taylor his on fire at the moment and get rid of baros, angel? and delenly(injury prone), DJDJ and we will finish top six!
Newman
Like the idea of Routledge, I forget where he is at the moment, I know he is out on loan. Alan Thompson was getting good when we let him go, but don't think we should go back for him now! Just pleased that now we talk about buying players and know we have a chance of doing it!
The Fear
bent, bridge, gallas

A person far more cynical than myself might say " Lerner has failed with the NFL and his money hasn't brought success. Will he have the same impact at Villa?"
still skeggy
still skeggy I doubt if Randy has someone in charge of the browns who is in the same calibre as MON, Its not the owners who get the results its the managers and players. So far his impact at Villa has been to put a huge smile on my face, and damn it feels good. UTV
steff_the_villan
Skeggy, if Roman Iama****** took over you would still be saying what have Russia done in world football. Some people are never satisfied.

Whats wrong with a female dog?

thompson would be a step backwards, how much games has he played in last year and a half....................................exactly!swp, baines or bridge, neill and defoe would be excellent buys.we are all not a half demanding bunch at all like are we!?!
Belfast Villain
we are demanding only what our great club deserves, and that is to be recognised as a major force in the world of football, not too much to ask is it??? UTV
steff_the_villan
Anyone who knows how to score 20+ goals a season would be nice.
