Pearce Full Of O'Neill Compliments

Stuart Pearce has indicated he thinks the FA made a mistake not taking Martin O'Neill as England manager. Not a mistake as far as us Villa fans are concerned though, it was a perfect decision as he's ours now!

Pearce said: 'I think Martin O'Neill would have done a good job for England. He is a fantastic manager and he is proving that again at Aston Villa. I have never worked under him but Tim Flowers played for him and said he was an excellent man-manager. But he must be tactically aware as well because Villa were stumbling along a little bit and he has gone in and worked wonders. From Villa's point of view, he looks a great appointment.'

I'm fascinated to see exactly what Martin O'Neill builds at Villa. If backed - which he obviously will be - he could very easily become a Villa legend and be as synonymous at Villa as Brian Clough was at Nottingham Forest. Lets face it, he's not even scratched the surface yet, short of bringing in Petrov and a few short term signings, he is still playing with other managers players.

The future is bright, the future is claret and blue!

Pearce is spot on. O'Neill was my choice for England manager but I'm glad we're stuck with that clown McClaren. Just hope they don't come hunting for MON when Sven's puppet inevitably gets the sack

Ditto apart from been glad about McClaren, the man is an idiot, there are two teams in my life, I bleed claret and blue but still support the three lions and to see their recent performances is heartbreaking but they can sod off, MON is ours, they could pick a sunday league manager who would probably do a better job. Pearce is quite obviously not as daft as he looks. Should be quite a rave-up on the touchline this evening when these two animated managers get into their stride. May well prove to be a more enjoyable sight, and provide more entertainment, than the actual game itself. As for the England managers position. No, the F.A. got it right. Their decision allowed us to strike it rich with MON. We should be eternally in their debt for that. They were obviously determined to do us a favour in return for all the years we allowed them to have Ellis on their committee's.

Pearce is often put forward as a future England boss himself, but I have serious doubts. He's hardly improved Citeh's lot since taking over at The COM Stadium. Comes across as a good motivator, but as a tactician, I'm not so sure.
