Delaney Might Get His Wish

Delaney Might Get His Wish

Reports are today suggesting that Mark Delaney might be moving to pastures new with Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes being linked to the versatile right back.

Delaney, who joined Villa in 1999 from Cardiff, is a free agent in the summer and his chances of a new deal might be limited due to the amount of time the unfortunate player has spent on the treatment table.

Delaney might welcome a move to the team with fellow Welsh Internationals Craig Bellamy and Robbie 'Barbie doll' Savage, not to mention linking up with Hughes who managed the Welsh national team before moving to Blackburn.

The 29 year old began his fight back from the latest injury set back on Monday in the reserves game against West Brom. He was pleased to get no reaction to his groin injury and told the official site: ''We've been here before but I'm hoping to play a part for the first team now. I feel fit and it was good to play alongside the young lads in the reserves. Fingers crossed I can return to the first team soon. I'd love to be involved against Manchester Untied on Saturday, but we'll have to wait and see what the gaffer thinks.''

With the news that Olof Mellberg is now out with a hamstring injury, it seems likely that Delaney might get his wish to be involved.
