Villa Rocked By Major Injury

Oh dear. Our injury problems have just got ten times worse with the news that defensive rock and team captain Olof Mellberg will miss the game against Manchester United this weekend and might miss the rest of the hectic Christmas fixture list.

The Villa defender picked up a hamstring injury late on against Bolton last weekend. A scan has shown a small tear.

O'Leary told the official site: 'We've been very fortunate that our two centre halves, Olof and Liam Ridgewell have been able to play in every game so far. But this news presents us with a problem we could've done without. It's a massive blow.'

Mark Delaney, who started his comeback in the reserves against West Brom on Monday will be the most likely to offer cover, unless he is put in at his usual position of right back with Aaron Hughes moving to the centre.
The news means that either Mark Delaney or Aaron Hughes will move into the centre for United's visit on Saturday.
