The Paul Birch Interview

The Paul Birch Interview

Following on from our successful interviews with Dennis Mortimer and General Charles Krulak, Vital Villa has lined up Paul Birch to answer your questions.

Simply leave your questions in the article comments box below or ask away in the forum thread.

The battling midfielder, whose name is still sung each home game by the Holteend faithful, was at Villa between 1980-1991, made 153 league appearances + 20 as a sub, scoring 16 goals. Cup: 35 games, 11 as a sub, scoring 9 goals. He made his full debut in 1983 at the age of 20 in a 1-0 home win against Sunderland.

Birchy left in 1991 to join up with Wolverhampton Wanderers for £400 000 but as he now still plays for the Villa all-stars, we won't hold that against him!!

So come on, get your questions in and we'll put them to Birchy.

Next up, the sole survivor of the previous regime, Steve Stride.

Who was the best player you played with at Villa? (Not including Paul McGrath because it's too obvious)

How did Graham Taylor manage to change a club that had been relegated to the old division 2 in '86-87 into a club that finished 2nd in the top division just three seasons later in '89-90???

Paul, i understand that you are now employed along with Spinky by our friends down the road, Does it dissapoint you that Villa dont give enough ex players the chance to further there careers after playing?
