Lee Hendrie Re-Call On Cards

Music to Lee Hendrie's ears as Martin O'Neill has conceded he might need to recall the midfielder currently on loan at Stoke.

With injuries kicking in to an already small squad, O'Neill has admitted:

'Recalling Lee Hendrie is a distinct possibility and, as he gets fitter with every game, it can only be better news for us. It is a genuine thought. Lee is at Stoke for two months but we can recall him if we want. In terms of the squad strength, I think that was always a fear once the August transfer deadline had gone and you weren't able to do anything about it.'

Adding: 'I had to try to get some idea of the quality of our squad before I started delving into the market. Obviously I signed Stiliyan Petrov and there was the possibility of getting young James Milner from Newcastle which fell through, but that's the way it goes. We've a distance to go, 10 games until January, before we can do anything.'

Wouldn't be a bad shout to bring lil Lee back for one more throw at the dice, if he doesn't do the business then at least all have been given a fair crack of the whip and he can look for a new club in the summer?

Very true, i really hope he does shine as i know he has it in him. just took his foot off the gas in recent seasons and even though his family is all blue noses, he has claret & blue blood running through his veins

I dont think we are that desperate yet. We still have Davis kicking his heals on the bench and surely Lee would be behind him in the pecking order?

Iv leave him at stoke till the Bolton game bring him back then and he should be very fit having not played till recently, be an asset over the Christmas & new year.

He's a class player when fit, leave him where he is so he can get some more games in!

I know opinion is very much divided on Lee Hendrie amongst Villa fans. But I like the lad and would love to see him back, fit, and fighting for a place in the team.

I want him back this Stoke loan has done him the world of good

Hendrie has played wide right and gives us an option there as I don't know if Agathe's up to it. It then allows Gabby to play down the middle if required. MON's right in that he needs to see if he's up to it before moving him on.

With suspensions and unfortunately injuries bound to take there toll on the squad, it makes sense to welcome Lee back into the fold.
