Villa? 4th? Why Not?

Stiliyan Petrov is aiming high and asks Why can't Villa 'do an Everton' and finish fourth?

'They (Everton) showed two seasons ago it's possible for clubs to break into the top four. We can do the same. Why not? European football is incredible and the Villa players want to achieve it next season. I've got used to winning things. I see no reason why I should lower my ambitions now.'

'We've lost only once in the Premiership. When Liverpool beat us, we gave them too much space in the first half. But we learnt fast. Second half, we were in their faces, and we took the improvement into the win over Blackburn. I played against Everton in a pre-season friendly for Celtic and they have some good individuals. But David Moyes has them working very hard as a unit.'

Villa are going in at half time against Everton 1-0 up following a beautifully floated ball from Isaiah Osbourne that Chris Sutton just glanced in. 4th? Why not!? ;-)

Well we're currently 3rd and only Arsenal have games in hand to pass us (assuming they don't loose - quite unlikely) which, if I remember from school, leaves us in 4th (on goal difference over Bolton). Pretty much 1/3 of the season gone and we have already played 3 of the "big four", all of them away so one would hope for better rulsults at home. Not expecting top 4 but so far so good! :o)

Wigan away and two home against Man c and Boro, you would expect 7 points at least, Now theres something i wouldnt of said last year.UTV.

Hope for your sake that's not him saying "If you don't finish fourth, I'll cry and leave"...

Its a long hard season to keep this up but why not, good manager a different owner!

I've been saying all along that Man U and Chelski will be 1st and 2nd (not sure about the order). One of Arsenal and Liverpool will screw up and leave a spot open if someone can take it. With a few additions in Jan and more performances like yesterday it will be there for the taking.

Long way to go yet, and a lot depends on the amount of strengthening MON is able to do in January. Without wishing to sound negative, we are still a long, long way behind the supposed Big 4, but after that I feel everyone is pretty much of a muchness, so a 5th or 6th spot is certainly within the realms of possibility. Top four though is obviously another matter. Another huge step up, and I dont think we're anywhere near that level yet.

need to set your sights high so why not? I think you need to bring in a forward in january though.

you have a great chnace of actually achieving thsi under O'Neil..there's a long way to go yet but you are playing tight and not giving a lot away....

I'm trying hard not to get carried away. Still a long way to go until May, and after the supposed 'Big 4', I think that there's little to choose between the rest of the premiership. Three wins and you're up there, three defeats and........
