Two Villans In England U21 Call Up

Gabby Agbonlahor and Peter Whittingham have both been named in the England Under-21 squad again.

The U21's play Holland in a friendly the day before the senior squads face up. Hopefully Gareth Barry will be named in McLaren's squad although the timing could be awful as he is currently struggling with a back injury.

Sammy Lee, who takes charge for the game said: 'It's a squad of very talented youngsters and they've done very well in the European Championship qualifiers. I watched all the games, they were great and did exceptionally well against Germany over the two legs. It shows the strength and the quality of the squad. They also show togetherness, they are a very cohesive unit and have a good system of play because they've been playing together for quite sometime.'

'They work very hard for each other, they have a lot of talented individuals and their teamwork stands out more than anything. This will be an interesting game, it's always good to play against the likes of Holland, they are very talented too, so it'll be a good test for us. I've spoken to Peter and we'll talk again on Sunday to discuss how we are going to play.'

And on Gareth Barry he DIDN'T say, 'Sven was scandalous for not picking Gareth and Steve seems to run along the same numb-skull lines as his predecessor' but perhaps should have!!!

Good luck to both of the Young Lions, and the under-21's as a whole I guess. Whitts is a strange one. A talented youngster with a superb left foot, struggles to make an impression at Villa Park yet is fully established as an England under 21 player. Maybe he'll get a chance at Goodison tomorrow in view of Gareth's expected absence. Needs a bit more self-belief I feel.

shame about barry again.it was obvious all along that that buffoon of a national team manager is only following on from the swede.

England's loss this summer was Villa's gain, but there is a downside - the national team will continue to play mediocre football for the foreseeable future. Keep trying Gareth! UTV

Barry's injury has given McClaren the perfect excuse not to pick him. It's an absolute disgrace that he's not in the squad and players like Downing are, despite the fact he's never looked international class. The England squad should be picked on the basis of form, and there aren't any players more in-form than Gareth Barry. McClaren, you are gutless and you should be ashamed of yourself

Well to keep it positive, I'm glad that Gabby is in the under 21s rather than the full squad as some have been pushing for.

I scored two great long rangers in pro evo 6 with Whittingham.

Wonderful news for the lads but sadly inevitable for Gareth. The trouble is that the buffoon McLaren is a loser( sadly for England) and a loser like him could not possibly pick someone who might help create a winning team. While I grieve for England I worry that when McLaren is finally kicked out Villa will be the only losers.

once again no Barry in the full squad, he can't play any better so obviously mclaren just doesn't like him.

Would imagine that Whitts will move on from Villa Park if his first team possibilities dont improve. Just lacking as far as I'm concerned. Not quite good enough for the premiership.
