And The Best Striker In The Prem Is?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by skakdiddy, who is the best striker in the Premiership?

Surprisingly Chelsea's Didier Drogba came first with 44% of the votes. Thanks for visiting Merlin and friends!

Thierry Henry, the best striker in Europe in my opinion, got 42%

Wayne Rooney got 7%

Former Villa boy Peter Crouch polled just 3%

Potential Villa target if the red tops are to be believed (which I guess they aren't!) Jermain Defoe of Spurs got just 2%

Leaving 2% voting for 'other'.

maybe the vote was hijacked, so not a true reflection. i mean i am surprised Andy Johnson didn't get a mention, and NO villa strikers ? Kuyt ? many many more you could mention even Darren Bent. for me HENRY is class above Drogba, although the chelsea man is the player on form.

I don't think there are many better strikers than Drogba at the moment. I am a Chelsea fan but did'nt vote in your poll. Recently, he's got a hell of a lot stronger and is displaying unusually high levels of skill. Still a bit Heskeyesque in his balance but that's improving as well. Not a better player than Henry but he's delivering the goods at the moment with 11 goals. (Not sure how you can hijack a site precluding all others. Is that possible?)

IMO Drogba is class player and I would probably put him 2nd to Henry. He is a different type of player to Henry though, more in the old fashioned centre forward mould (but with added diving). Henry is the better player to watch

its henry, no question. drogba may have scored more but henry can do things that drogba cries himself to sleep over!

I would be interested to know which Villa strikers you would have included puregold? Sutton? ;-)

Full credit to Drogba he has been a revelation this season but he's no Thierry Henry!

Henry for me. As Geordie Villa says, there were no Villa strikers who could have been included at the moment, which is a shame as we've always had a proud tradition of top strikers.

I went on what I've seen with my own eyes, and going by his two showings against us this season to date, his all-round play has improved considerably. It's easy to see now why Mourinho rated him so highly, and in and around the box I believe he now has very few equals. He got my vote, and I'm certain he'll justify my faith by finishing as the top goalscorer in the premiership this campaign. That would please him to hear that he's received my vote of confidence!

Oneday soon Mr Fear we will have not only a team to be proud of but a striker or two who will propell Villa to the top of the division.

Henry, without a doubt one of the greatest Players ever, obviously he would have acheived greater success had he played for the mighty Villa, Drogba has hit a run of good form but IMHO he is not fit to lace Henrys boots. UTV

He (Drogba) is the classic example of give a guy time to really settle in, and given quality, he'll come through.
