'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What Keeps You Away From Villa?

Vital Villa asked what is keeping 'you' from Villa Park?

53% said nothing, they always attend.

21% said the price.

8% got used to doing other things when they got fed up with the Ellis era and another 8% pick and choose the games they wish to see.

That left 5% being put off by the constant fixture changes and 5% bemoaning the lack of star players.

Basically there is a hard core Villa faithful, there are those that can't afford it and there are those who will return when we start winning.

Those that return will no doubt be saying the same as the 50 000 Newcastle fans who all claim to have been there in the 'old days' when only 5000 turned up! ;-)

I believe we will only see regular 40,000 plus gates when fans can see positive signs that real quality football has returned and Villa Park becomes a fortress again. Martin has done exceptionally well with the squad he has inherited but in my opinion needs another eight, yes eight, top quality signings -and that will take more than one season to achieve. In the meantime we'll just have to hold our breath and hope Martin can keep it going for the rest of this season at least.

I fear you are right villacross, with football being so expensive these days, some fans will want a giant leap of faith with quality players incoming before returning. Still always be us fans who follow in blind faith though!

Yes, as Tommy Docherty once said - take any 10 average blokes off the street - put them in Villa shirts and 10,000 fans would turn up to support them. -That's me - ask my "missus".

I dont go as I live over 250 miles away from Villa park but am hoping to go to the Man Utd v Villa match and at least 1 home game

Nothing keeps me away, rain or shine, unsociable kick off times, Sunday/Monday games. Enjoy hearing the numerous excuses offered up by supporters (not the long distance ones) as to why they dont/cant attend. Some excuses possibly quite legit, but others just translate into a simple 'Cant be bothered'.

Having said that, would have called it quits season ticket wise this time around had the old boy and Stride and co still been running the show. Had about all I was prepared to take.
