Villa Ask Fans To Back The Team

The new regime at Aston Villa are asking fans to back them by turning up and backing the team on Sunday when we face Blackburn Rovers at 2pm.

The official site details:

Tickets are still on general sale for the 2pm kick-off against Mark Hughes' men. Villa will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, so we need your help. And don't forget is Sunday's clash is now a Villa Value game for the North Stand ONLY. Oh and I can vouch for the ticket office being busy. Took me 30 mins to get through at 9:00 this morning, but on the plus side the woman who dealt with me was really pleasent and helpful!

Why a VV game for the North Stand only, have they done that before?

Well the Chelsea game is sold out, so in that case we have backed the team. I am not sure if we would have sold 6000 tickets in a day and a half if it was not for the fanstastic gesture of free travel for the Villa fans. However this does not generate one penny of income to the Villa, infact it is costing the club money. So come on all Villa fans who can get to the game on Sunday, but who are yet to buy their tickets, lets not wait for the supposed 'big' games. We go to watch the Villa, not the team we are playing against. And Jonah, V V games are restricted to the North Stand because the club is showing consideration to season ticket holders. They are not selling season tickets in the North Stand, this means that they can vary the price, game by game for this area. As a season ticket holder in the Holte End, I would be fuming if the person sat next to me, who only attends occasionally, was paying less for their ticket than I did for mine. UTV

Certainly hope we exceed the 30,000 crowd that attended the Fulham game. That was a huge dissapointment no doubt to everyone connected with the club, from the boardroom through to MON and his players. The fair-weather fans need to get off their backsides, put away their excuses, and get themselves down to VP to support the new regime. Forget its a Sunday game, a wierd kick-off time, and its only Blackburn Rovers. Get yourselves down there.

Ref the Fulham game. I sit in B3 Trinity and tried to get another ticket two days before the game - none available!. At the match, I estimate that 5-10% of the seats were not filled! So obviously thousads of Season Ticket Holders preferred to watch the game on the Box -absolutely amazing. Talk about negative support, especially when there are fans both wanting to buy tickets and give much needed vocal support to the team! When are we going to introduce a scheme where non-attending Season Ticket Holders can return tickets for onward sale if not attending?

Sell out for Chelsea away, yet we'll struggle to pull in 32,000 against Rovers. Sad.
