The Villa Times - 27/10/2006

Olof Mellberg has said he would like to sign another long term deal to keep him at Villa Park. Full article: The Bearded One Looks To Stay

Jonathan Fear has said he would like to sign a long term deal to get free season tickets at Villa Park. He also wants to marry Rachel Stevens and plans to retire to his home planet of Zarg. Rachel Stevens was unavailable for comment, the Zargians meanwhile don't want him back.

Martin O'Neill says that contracts these days aren't worth the paper they are written on (a theory I'm about to test as I'm going to refuse to pay my MBNA bill this month!) and that he would hate to be doing badly and sitting there on a deal with four or more years to go, he said that would be 'embarrassing' and although he didn't rule out signing a long term deal at Villa, he didn't see it as a priority. Full article: O'Neill - No Contract Worries

O'Neill, who as a manager has never been beaten at Anfield, thinks the best form of defence is attack saying 'We might get beaten but I have absolutely no doubt that we will go there and have a go.....I think we will have a go. Definitely. I promise you. And if we are sitting back towards the end then it may be because we are holding on to something. If we are - great. We will definitely have a go. I would love to remain unbeaten after tomorrow. I genuinely would. But is it a millstone around our necks? Absolutely not. Not at all.' Full article: Villa To Attack Liverpool

I was at the Martin O'Neill forum last night at The Longbridge Social Club presented by Capital Gold which is aired tonight at 7pm on 1152am. It is well worth a listen as the Villa boss was top value and although he didn't exactly have much to do to convert the fans who already love him, he certainly made a fantastic impression. Lee Hendrie has talked some more about his future and admitted he doesn't know where he might end up but he certainly hasn't ruled out staying at Villa. Full article: Lee Hendrie Is Going Nowhere - Yet More on Hendrie: Hendrie Doesn't Know Future

Martin O'Neill has sung the praises of the youth academy set up at Aston Villa, a far cry from the last manager who would only sing his own praises! Full article: O'Neill In Praise Of The Youth Acadamy

Juan Pablo Angel has said Aston Villa have got to get back into winning ways after seeing the team remain the only unbeaten side in all divisions but picking up six draws along the way. Full Article: Juan Pablo Angel Looks For Wins

All positive, all in a jocular vein. The good times really are with us.

About time the youth academy got some good press. Sid Cowan’s and Tony Mac have done wonders for the Villa kids and were left out in the cold by that fool DOL. He wouldn't even acknowledge them when they met at training yet loved to say he brought through kids.

Yes there's some new young faces breaking through. I'm certainly impressed with young Adam NcGurk. He looks to be the real deal.
