Martin O'Neill Speaks To Fans
I was at the Martin O'Neill forum last night at The Longbridge Social Club presented by Capital Gold which is aired tonight at 7pm on 1152am. It is well worth a listen as the Villa boss was top value and although he didn't exactly have much to do to convert the fans who already love him, he certainly made a fantastic impression.
He was very amusing, totally humble and as honest as he could be without getting into trouble saying things that you know the press would pick up on or where he'd be accused of tapping players up!
Tom Ross was also good value, he took the boos for being a blue nose in very good part and took the banter thrown at him all night very well, especially when one Villa fan said he'd a radical plan to solve the parking at Villa. He wanted a mono rail system built from Small Heath to Villa Park. He said that St Andrews could then be flattened and a multi story Villa car park could be built. Job done!
O'Neill spoke of Lee Hendrie, his favourite all time players, his contract situation, Randy Lerner and Doug. He also spoke of his wife with great fondness but be warned, by the sounds of it, you wouldn't want to cross her!!
O'Neill also said, when asked about transfer targets, that we'd have to trust him, he knows who he would like, and if we can get them we'd all be pleased.
He also said Vital Football was the best website in the galaxy, although unfortunately only I heard him say it despite the fact they were recording the show and there were hundreds of Villa fans there. Hey, I live in my own world I know, but at least it is a nice world eh!?

Yeah I know that, just wondered if he mentioned why he shipped him out without first giving him a chance. I thought it was all down to DOL but obviously not.

He comes across (MON I'm talking about now) as consisting of everything you could wish for in a manager. He's a gem, of that there's no doubt. Sincere best wishes to his good lady, as she continues her recovery.
