Milan Baros Needs Time

Martin O'Neill has called for patience with Aston Villa striker Milan Baros

O'Neill explained, in an interview for the Birmingham Mail: 'He needs to get fit to be able to last the games. From the injury he sustained in the World Cup to the length of time he was out means he will take time to get fully fit again. He missed all of pre-season and that does have an effect on your confidence. But once Milan is fully fit, he will be an asset.'

Baros was our joint top scorer in all competitions last season, O'Neill continued: 'The fitness element is huge. But there are a number of issues, the most important of which is that we have to try and win games. That's all I'm trying to do, pick a side to win football matches. Milan needs to continue trying his best in training on a daily basis and everything incorporated in that to get back to his best. But every single minute of play he's getting will help him.'

Baros had a hand in two of Villa's three goals last night against Leicester City, so must be slowly getting there form, fitness and confidence wise.

He needs a goal so badly. I think the longer he goes without the worse his performances will be. Once he gets a goal he can relax and we'll see the best of him again.

agreed, I have a feeling he may suffer from 'ex-club' syndrome against the red scousers... what a perfect way to get his season up and running...

I have two worries 1 his pace or lack of which ever way you want to look at it and his attitude is not great. I only hope that is due to his lack of goals? as industrial said a goal at Anfield could be the tonic he needs (or indeed a goal anywhere)
irish villa
I agree with Irish Villa. I think we can be too accomodating on this board. Baros has a bad attitude - he strikes me as a player that only thinks about himself. I'm glad we have a manager who will not be blinded by poor perfomances and poor attitude week in week out. If we are to take the next step: ie. top 5 - I think us Villa fans need to get a bit more critical. It's not all rosy after all. Can someone tell me what they think about Davis's performance this season? Why is he anonymous for virtually the whole game apart from the odd neat touch. And Hughes - is he good enough for Aston Villa? Let's get real guys.

his pace???? one of baros main threats is his pace,he is a quick quick player, anybody that has ever watched him knows that! give him time to get back,he is quality....................patience lads!

I only have one problem with Milan, his attitude. He does have the skill, pace and ability. The only problem is on a matchday, how fired up is he? is he there just to pick up his pay packet? If he has a hunger and is confident he'll score hatfulls, if not then what is happening now happens.

Thought he played o.k. at Leicester on Tuesday, certainly his best performance since his return from injury. I cant comment about his attitude, I dont know the guy, but I do know that he's a highly talented footballer, and we need more of the same at VP if we are to obtain the success we all desire.

he is quality, when you are out pre season its hard to get back into things he is playing catchup with everyone else. I find he is a bit ball greedy tho needs to get his head up and look a bit more

I'm not sure that he'll be at Villa Park beyond this season though. His heart just doesn't seem fully in it. I think he sees himself playing in Spain or Italy, even Germany maybe.
