'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Petrov - Villa Were 'Sloppy'.

Stiliyan Petrov has admitted Villa were 'a little bit sloppy' against Fulham in the disappointing 1-1 draw saying the team 'didn't close Fulham down quick enough' before adding 'We had our chances but we couldn't take them. We are still unbeaten but I think we need to be more aggressive and we need to get more points. It is good that we haven't lost games but we need to start winning games again. I am happy but it is not about me or anyone else, it is about how we perform as a team.'

'We have had some great team performances so far and we take everything together. We know we still have to work hard to improve things.'

He also says Villa are expecting a tough game against Leicester City on Tuesday night in the League Cup:

'We are expecting a hard game tomorrow but it is important for us to get back to that winning mentality. We still have confidence and everyone is looking forward to playing this match. Because we didn't win on Saturday, you want the next game to come as soon as possible.'

Honest words from a class act. 6 of the team on Saturday were poor even by reserve team standards. Only Laursen, Mellberg, Ridgewell, Barry and Petrov were good enough for first team selection. Martin should do what Shanks used to do at Liverpool =anyone remember - put them on the release list. It always seemed to work.

It was a 'sloppy' performance, amongst many other things. The most disappointing result/showing of the season to date. A similar performance at Leicester will see our League Cup interest end for another campaign.

Nice to see a spade being called a spade.

We dont want to get into the habit of too many draws. We need to turn these draws into three pointers, particularly when on home soil.
