'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Surely A 'Bhoy' Too Far?

Sky Sports, amongst others, have been reporting that Martin O'Neill might make a short term move for Celtic legend Henrik Larsson.

The Swede left Barcelona in the summer having helped them to a Champions League final win and joined Helsingobrgs where he said he wanted to finish his career, however O'Neill thinks the 35-year-old could still cut it at the top level.

O'Neill said; 'It is only May time since he came on and changed a European Cup final, which used to be a relatively important game. So I can't imagine him having lost the sparkle and enthusiasm and fitness in three or four months.'

Not sure that quote is a definite sign that O'Neill is going to bid for him in January mind you and you'd have to say it would be a good few seasons too late, unless it is another stop gap until the summer signings come into full force. Personally I'd rather we passed on this one, the man was an absolute star, it would be a shame to see that tarnished.

he would do no worse than Angel and Baros, but he would only have one season in him.
dazza71
maybe we could give him an end of season contract
Christo
He wouldn't uproot his family for a 6 month contract. I can put up with some of the signings so far because we've had little choice. Come Jan though we have choice and we should/could do better.

Signing players at 35 is a desparate strategy - but perhaps he is after their pathetic performance against Fulham on Saturday.

as we always knew, Celtic are unbeatable in England. They just wear a different jersey there.
weetim67
MON has come out and stated that he is not interested in bringing Larsson to VP. Just another rumour designed to fill up column inches.
glensider
thank goodness - your going only one way at 35
tylervilla
he'd do better short term than sutton would long term
AussieVilla
we need a younger proven goalscorer
samtozer
Bent or Defoe be good enough Samtozer?
industrial_musical
Hasn't he sort of semi-retired by going back to Swedish domestic football, saying he wanted to be able to spend more time with his wife and kid(s)?
