'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa General Speaks!

The General (Charles Krulak) has told Villa fans that Randy Lerner isn't looking to make a quick buck and that 'if you opened his heart, you would see claret and blue.'

In an interview with Villa World the charismatic American said: 'If there is anything Randy wants to get across, it is that he didn't buy this club for financial gain,' Krulak said. 'He never wants to do anything in business that doesn't make a pound but, if you opened up his heart, you would see it is claret and blue. He is here for more than just the business side. He is here because he loves Aston Villa and loves football.'

'He went to school and university in England, has lived here and has a deep love of English football. When this opportunity came along, it was a chance to get involved in the sport Randy and myself are deeply interested in. We've got a real buzz. The reality is Villa has such a wonderful history and to have the opportunity to be part of that and take it to the next level is very exciting for us.'

The General isn't doing too shabbily either, I've seen on the forums and had a good few emails about what a positive impression he is leaving with fans and staff as he 'does his thing' around Villa Park. I was lucky enough to have a post match phone chat with him after the Charlton match and the excitement and enthusiasm for the job at hand was tangible.

Heady days indeed.

Good to know he likes the club and actually cares about them.

He does seem genuine , but as with all Chairmen he will want a return on his investment ... although I do believe that he will be around for you for a long while and can only add to the excitement of the premiership that he does !

I was fortunate to "bump" into General Krulak at "Villa Village" last week. I can only echo what JF has said. - very friendly and approachable; charismatic certainly, listens to what you say - I suspect he's a real motivator, just what's needed - a breath of fresh air compared to the last lot!

These guys are beyond and above everything I dared hope for in new owners.
