'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Neill Talks Randy

Martin O'Neill has told the official site that he will be talking to new chairman and Villa owner Randy Lerner this week to make plans for our resurrection!

O'Neill said: 'The owner is here for a week. He has got some little plans himself he wants to put into action. He has got decent plans for the training ground and wants to get the training ground up and running. Obviously I'm a football manager, so I want him to try and improve the team.'
'When I first met him my initial impression was that he wanted to do the right thing at the football club. He enjoys his football and he has been very good so far.'

And the good thing is that football is addictive, once they've got the bug, I'm sure the money will follow for some quality players! We are 9 unbeaten at the moment, we stand 5th in the league and all that with just one major purchase. Imagine where we'll be once the new plans are in place and we get some January and summer signings!

Good news, but "very good so far." Could be read two ways, he might be waiting on a deal. Has Martin signed a 5 year deal? if not, why not?

Good to see your club moving forward and hopefully it can carry on.

Good to see a very measured response from MON. He obviously and wisely doesn't want to to raise expectations too high - he knows there's an awful long way to go before he has shaped the team he wants - I have to say that with the exception of Barry, Petrov, McCann and perhaps Gabby we got too many "all-right" players. And I include Baros in that group

I'd love to be a fly on the wall at this 'meeting'.
