Villa Lead The Way In The Prem

Villa Lead the way in the Premiership!

As we all know, Villa have been doing wonders under Martin O'Neill, this year, but it is not only down to him. It is also the players putting in the effort on the pitch. So to reflect this effort, I thought I'd share this bit of information - 3 Villa players are in the Top 10 so far this season according to the OPTA Stats Index - and this is the most of any team in the Premiership.

1 Andy Johnson Everton 172
2 Didier Drogba Chelsea 160
3 Gareth Barry Aston Villa 134
4 Gabriel Agbonlahor Aston Villa 132
5 Ashley Young Watford 132
6 Kanu Portsmouth 131
7 Frank Lampard Chelsea 130
8 Ivan Campo Bolton Wanderers 129
9 Liam Ridgewell Aston Villa 128
10 Gary Speed Bolton Wanderers 125

Congratulations must therefore be awarded to Gareth, Gabby, and Liam, and an honourable mention must also go to Olof Mellberg, who lies 16th overall. A sterling effort lads and lets keep up the good work until May!!!

It's actually the Actim Index and not Opta, but who's bothered ay? (Apart from Actim perhaps..) lol

great to see Agbonlahor above Lampard
Christo
Team of the season isn't bad either with Villa having three out of four defenders
Equatorialvilla

industrial_musical
just shows what a bit of confidence can do really.
The Fear
If 3 of our players are in the top ten and we are 6th in the league, what are all the other players doing?
ooahPaulMcGrath
thats good for your club then aint it. Shows how far you have come since MON came to your club.
jono_forest
The 2 best things that have happened to Villa are that muppet O.Leary leaving and O'Neill coming.
Cravens

Dunno how John terry is in the top 5. He was awful vs Villa.

Favouritism for the big clubs eh? haha

One of 2 unbeaten teams in the premiership. And there just doesn't seem to be a single player who isn't on form in your side. I'm surprised Angel isn't up there as well though because he's been fantastic. Congratulations Villa and O'Neill!

What can you say MON lifts us up where we belong (I feel a song coming on) have always been Villa and proud, even through the bad, dark days of ...........................(insert ars**holes name here) but my cheeks are aching because of the smug, self satisfied grin that seems to be a permanent ******* fixture these days, So come on, whos having a laugh, building us all up just to reveal that deadly is still in charge and MON is realy DOL in a latex mask, and its all a late april fools joke, pinch, pinch harder is it still there or is this a mass dream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Leedsscum nice to know not all the visitors to our site are gob*****es, good luck to you and yours.

it was great to see agbonlahor was picked for the u21's, with a name like that I was amased to see he's english. Definetely no way back for Beckham he's just slipped even further down the order.

there used to be a saying "what is the point of aston villa?",then along came martin o'neil,im gonna stick some villa defenders in my dream team before its too late.i would have been crazy doing that before!,is it me or is Angel being bribed to do very badly against the chelski mafia, last year he was a joke,he never seems to cut the mustard against them..or am i paranoid?
fran merida
Cant help feeling that we're all getting a little bit carried away here. Great start, but there's a long, long way to go.
