O'Neill Not Hot On Stan Collymore

What is going on? The club are actually communicating with us!?

Martin O'Neill has dismissed reports linking Stan Collymore with a Villa Park return.

The Villa boss said: 'Stan is 35 and he would have to get fit. He would need a lot of willpower and a lot of self determination to get fit for the Premier League to be perfectly honest. At 35 you need a great desire and I just don't know what Stan has been doing in the last couple of years - I don't know whether that desire has returned.'

'He did terrifically well for me in a short period of time at Leicester. But if you're asking me today whether I could make an assessment that would be a difficult call.'

Stan is a deluded idiot. Thank God MON moved quickly to dismiss this nonsense.

I feel quite sorry for him. Well, not that sorry, he is a millionaire and fitter than me BUT he really did 'lose it' and I have a great deal of sympathy for those suffering with depression. He is now obviously looking and realising what he let go.

he never did well for us when he played he is well past it. It would be a disaster if he joined

Just as we are getting a harmonius dressing room the mere thought of that egotistic freak joining scares the life out of me.

A difficult call is a lot different than saying "Stan - you're deluding yourself - you've no chance of coming back here". Sounds to me martin might be having a think...

Agree with the Usual Suspect, MON doesn't want to kick a guy that he's worked with and has obvious problems (as mentioned in The Fears sensitive post). We've got cover now until Jan. Perhaps he'll let him train with us but that will be it.

His fitness wont be the issue I don't think in any attempt at a comeback. He's very lucky in being fairly injury free and having a good frame so he might be right when he says he could come back fitter. But mentally? That's where the problem has always been..

Stick to your dogging Stan. You throw yourself wholeheartedly into that, whereas you rarely took your football seriously.
