Mark Delaney On Injury Nightmare

Luckless Mark Delaney is set to see a specialist to get to the bottom of his knee injury.

The Aston Villa and Wales defender, who has had to watch this season from the sidelines, told the official site:

'It's unfortunate that I haven't progressed as I wanted. I'm going to see a specialist today to see whether any more can be done. It's pretty minor and if there's some surgery to be done, it will be nothing major. But it's a difficult time for me - it's my right knee again but hopefully there's better news this time. I'm bewildered by it to be honest and I've decided to see someone else to see whether I need to rest it or start training again.'

Adding: 'I've had a lot of swelling so I had to rest it to get that down but now there's soreness. I'm now in the process of looking at alternatives to see whether I can start doing anything. It's the same knee I've seen people about before but I keep picking up little niggles which keep me out for a couple of weeks here and there. It's just so frustrating because I haven't been able to prove myself under the new manager. All the lads are doing well and I'm having to watch the games on TV.'

What a shame he gets so many injuries, must be such a downer when all you want to do is play. If he hadn't had so many injuries in recent years he'd have been a great shout for captain as he has never been afraid to boss the team about or crunch in with tackles.

Although I wish him a speedy recovery he hasn't been greatly missed by Villa so far this season.

What can you say? You've got to feel for the guy. Hope he gets some good news, but whatever he hears, hopefully this different specialist can determine the problem and get him on track for a return to full fitness. At the moment he's just spinning his wheels.

he does just enough to earn himself a new contract and then he gets injuried, he really isnt reliable enough.
