Stiliyan Petrov - Villa Goals Due

Stiliyan Petrov has told the official site that despite the 0-0 v Watford on Saturday, the goals will come for Aston Villa.

The Bulgarian international said:

'What we have to do now is start scoring goals. In the first half we kept the ball better and looked after it, but we created pressure on ourselves by not doing that in the second half. But we got a point and we're still unbeaten. We have to get or scoring boots on and start scoring goals. I had arguably the best one on the angle when I tried to squeeze it past the keeper but it didn't happen. I also had the one-two with Juan Pablo Angel, but the keeper came out quickly - if I'd had more time maybe I'd have put it in the net. It doesn't matter who gets the chances - we've got to start putting them in.'

Petrov can almost smell his debut goal, this Wednesday v Scunthorpe would be a good time! 'I'm not far away from my first Villa goal - I know it will happen and we're working on it, but it's just unfortunate that it hasn't happened yet. I'm not worried about it - the good thing is we're creating chances and if we do that, we'll score goals.'

Promisingly he adds 'I feel I'm developing a good understanding with Juan and Milan too - they're good players who can hold the ball up, do one-twos and take people on. So when you have players like that, you need to use them.'

He also said they were disappointed not to have won because much like the West Ham game, Villa had the best chances to take all 3 points.

would be nice to see, the more I see of Petrov the more I understand MONs desire to bring him to Villa, a future legend in the making, along with Laurson (stunning performance) the team are coming together nicely, Villa for the cup (and anything else we can get our mitts on) The Mighty Villa are standing proud, up and down the stadiums of this country you can feel the fear (no not you!) the villans are back, hear us ROAR. UP THE VILLA, now how do you get to scunthorpe from North Wales?

I could score Wednesday! It's Scunthorpe, my pub team could beat them blindfolded.

Stan would already be a legend if he scored one of the two great chances he had to put an extra 2 points on the board. Luke and Gabby show promise, in what are unusual positions for them, but they do need to show some results for their efforts. We are difficult to break down cos we shove 5 accross the middle but only having one up front limits us. MON is trying to limit expectations and he's right. This year top half. Next year Europe. Year after Champs league. After that it's world domination (cue the Dr Evil laugh). Will be so interesting to see which way MON will go in January with the reported 20 mill booty. Will he go for the big names (bearing in mind we don't actually have anything to offer yet) or players he can develop. Happy days. By the way, is Doug (sorry to mention him) officially gone yet. Does Randy have the 90%?

Every team needs a mercurial talent, and Petrov could turn out to be yours.

its good to see we have got some creativity at last, although great talents for the future I wonder whether luke more or gaby agbon have enough quality in front of goal to make the most of the chances.

I think they'll look better and set up more chances when we play teams that pass the ball about, the physical game of last Saturday didn't suit a good few of them!

MON copied Harry Redknapp, his desire bollox and as rightly pointed out be LL your keeper will get a hatrick from punting long balls.

Stan definitely looks a minimum ten goals per season midfielder. Its our collection of strikers that concern me.
