Berger On Offer At Villa!

Berger On Offer At Villa!

Patrik Berger has been assured by Martin O'Neill that his age won't go against him and the former Czech international says in the Mail 'I know I still have something to offer.'

Adding 'I feel really good. If you're fit and right and do everything you should do then basically, age doesn't matter. To be honest, I'm old enough to look after my body and I want to be able to get up in the morning and know I can train every day. The difference from my point of view is that I look forward to coming to work and playing. That wasn't the case every day last year.'

He says his aim is to get himself fit and be available for selection.

Intersting how so many injured players are now returning to form, especially as we had an awfull run with injuries last season. I suggested at the time that the fault was the training methods but no one picked up on it. I still think it was the case as things are getting better rapidly with new coaching staff.

I think later in the interview, Berger says that he was being made to do too much work with weights last year, which contributed to his muscle injuries. You have to wonder what the hell DOL was doing last season

With the Leeds manager about to get the boot, will DOL return (lol)? MON has put paid to DOL getting a job anywhere real soon. He's damaged goods. Showed him up to be what he is. He appeared to do well at Leeds cos he bankrupted the club with signings.

Gazvilla you also forget that he had a team of superstars at leeds, who did well because they were good players not because of DOL. It shows that when we needed a kick up the arse DOL was found wanting because he relied upon the players to do things for themselves. Just a shame that we were the ones to find out that DOL isn't as good as you think :( I hope Berger comes back and has a ******* good season, just a shame we bought him 5 years too late.

We're talking about a true international class midfielder in his day in Patrik Berger. Whether he's still got the ability or the inclination is of course open to debate. Hopefully he'll stay relatively fit, and prove some of us doubters wrong. That has to be good for the club, who deserve some sort of return on the money and time they've put into the player.

When villa beat portsmouth away 2-1 the season before last, Berger was terrific, Im just wondering whether he's still got that sort of performance left in him.
