'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Olof Mellberg & Martin Laursen

Vital Villa asked which two defenders will form the best central partnership this season.

A massive 69% opted for Olof 'the bearded one' Mellberg and Martin Laursen.
17% said Mellberg and Liam Ridgewell.
11% voted for the bearded one and Gary Cahill.

Leaving just 1% each for Laursen with either Ridgewell or Cahill, or Cahill and Ridgewell.

Our latest poll asks if everyone should send me £10, WHAT? Apparently it has been changed to ask if Villa will win, lose or draw against West Ham on Sunday.

Hopefully Laursen will obtain and maintain full fitness, and show us all what he's capable of. Now that could be something. I am scared to say anything else, in case i jinx him to futher injury.
The Usual Suspect
i like the mellberg/laursen partnership, i feel the facial hair ying/yang balance is good, the backline looked to hairy with olof's beard and ridgewells impersonation of a 12 year old growing a 'tache!!. i personally would play Brian 'gordon's alive' Blessed between the sticks so that olof has something to aspire to.

on paper our first choice defensive looks pretty solid...sorenson, hughes, laursen, mellberg, bouma...lots of international experience there. Easily one of the top 8 defences in the premiership, lets hope MON can sort them out and get them playing as a unit

Keep 'em all fit and in relatively good form, and its definitely fair to say that we're well served in central defence. Even Olof, long considered a fixture in there, will have to keep on his toes to fight off the challenge of the other pretenders.

cant knock ridgewell tho, he had a great game at arsenal and is in good form, he usually chips in with a goal or two aswell.
