Avid, Loyal & Passionate Villa Fans

Randy Lerner, the soon to be new owner of Aston Villa, has seen parallels between the Aston Villa faithful and the fans of his NFL team the Cleveland Browns.

He said: 'They both have extremely avid, loyal and passionate - to the point of religious - support. So yes, I suppose there is an overlap. But I don't want to overdo the parallels because I don't know enough really at this point about that area of the country to do that - and I am tentative about overdoing it anyway.'

He'll certainly have no doubts once we have a full to the rafters Villa Park, the atmosphere can be electric, especially when the Holte End are buzzing, there are few better sites in the game than the Holte End in full voice (especially when NOT singing about blinking Birmingham City!)

"I don't know enough really at this point about that area of the country" - Stunning business man. Invest in a social religion in a far off country without even understanding the geo-demographics of the people. Surely he hasn't invested in AV purely by the figures that an accountant has put in front of him? I thought he had done it for the good of the club with the best interests of the people at heart. I too would love to hear the Holte and the rest of VP singing in top voise, but please will someone come up with some better chants and no mention of the noses?

His fans where Dog Masks and bark! they are brilliant, they bark at the opposition fans! Can you imagine that in the Holte End? We should definately do it when Man Utd come to Villa Park... maybe bite them too and that includes that Ronaldo Chav.

If I had bought a club in another country, even if, like Randy I suspect, I had done my homework on the club I would still be cautious in my utterances in, through not really understanding I caused offence. Randy knew what he was buying, he is just being sensible.

I said it before the takeover and I`ll say it know. £60-£64million for Aston Villa FC is cheap. Randy got a bargin.

Randy can say what he likes, when he likes, how he likes. If he wants me to wear a dog mask to away games and a Browns jersey then I will. Its still very much the honeymoon period, and the guy can do no wrong. Whisper it quietly though that my in-laws who all live in southern Ohio are Bengals season ticket holders, and I havent broken it to them yet that I've switched allegiance.
