'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lerner - Humble, Honest And Welcome!

Randy Lerner was interviewed on Midlands Today last night. He admitted that he had been looking at Villa for some time:

'Villa was a club I had already thought about for a long time as I became more familiar with the Premier League over the last three or four years. I just became more and more focused, the people I was working with in London had advised. I continue to stay focused and that it may be available, Mr Ellis may be of a mind to sell it and it kind of built on itself.'

Admitting: 'It wasn't a lifelong thing. It would be dishonest and disingenuous for me to suggest it was. It seemed like an opportunity to make a little bit of a difference.'

He also backed the manager saying: 'I think Martin O'Neill is great. I think he's got the record, the history and the makings for a steady long-term commitment to Villa. That's the plan.''

Honest, humble and in my opinion, very welcome, lets get that 4.5% back and start rocking n' rolling eh?!?!

this still feels so strange, even now.ive not heard a single negative about mr lerner and his intentions for villa.just a shame the official site dont refer to him as mr lerner rather than the unrespectful lerner.
JASON
Yup, no dissenting comments about "MR" Lerners future plans so why are there still 10-15% of shares still to be transferred? Are there any dissenters out there who would like to speak up?
Equatorialvilla
Perhaps the remainder is held by people like my mate: he's got a framed share cert, which he was given as a gift, and although it's only 1 share and as such is worth very little, he wants to have it as a keep-sake.
lorenzo
then you should convince your mate that he will get a replacement of sorts as a gesture from mr lerner and im sure that he would prefer european nights in the near future rather than more ellis years and a keep-sake on the wall
JASON
He's everything Ellis could never be.

Already sexing up O'Neill I see!

Was this interview held at one of the directors boxes at Arsenals Emirates Stadium?
lagerchimp
Lagerchimp, I think the interview was at the Browns Stadium over in Ohio. What a great chairman you look to have. A dream team with MON I would think. Goodluck Villa. I think everything is in place to make the top 4 a top 5.... and with Arsenals debt could it be they who fall down a bit?
greyhound
Thanks Greyhound but I need to know for sure that the interview was held at the Brown's stadium - can anyone else shed any light on this please?
lagerchimp
On the share sale point - I don't think there are that many dissenters. More likely it's people wh have lost their share certificates and can't be bothered with the rigmarole involved in letters of indemnity. Or fans who have moved and not notified the club. Or others who think, "Everyone else will sell. I don't need to bother". I'm sure Mr. L will have his 90% in due course.
chocolate teapot
Can Lerner offer more dosh to he outstanding shareholders? What a disaster if he doesn't get 90%. Mr Fear is there an update on the amount bought??
Gazvilla
Got rid of the numpty O'Leary, got rid of the muppet Ellis, got O'Neill as Manager and a new owner....it will be good to see less moaning on this site, everything is looking good for you guys lets hope the the whingers/moaners stay away as its my experience that it does not matter how much things improve some people always expect more...Rome was'nt built in a day so give the new owners and management time!Good luck. Spurs supporter.
