'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times - 04/09/2006

According to Clubcall - not the most reliable when it comes to news - Villa will offer former Celtic player Didier Agathe a short-term contract after the James Milner transfer was halted by Newcastle. Agathe has been on trial at Villa training with the team at Bodymoor Heath.

Gareth Barry has put faith in Martin O'Neill to help the Villa midfielder re-claim a place in the England squad.
Barry, in an interview in the Sunday Mirror said; 'It's been frustrating for the past three years. I got into the England squad quite young but for some reason Eriksson didn't fancy me.' The lady that sits next to me at Villa does though, although I don't suppose that is much of a help really. Full Article: Click Here

Vital Villa asked if you were upset that James Milner couldn't sign for Villa. 64% said yes, he is a top player.
29% said his signing would have been nice but they weren't too bothered. 6% said no, we should be aiming higher.
1% said they were unsure.

Milan Baros is due to return to action and has targeted next weekends match against West Ham. He said; 'I've been training regularly for a week. I should be on the bench after the international break. I'm happy the leg is finally okay after months of recovering.' Full article: Click Here Our latest poll is asking if Baros will 'do the business' for Villa.

Randy Lerner is apparently on Midlands Today at 6.30pm tonight.

1pm today is the takeover deadline, we should - I'm sure - expect a statement in the next day or so as to what percentage Mr L has reached. 75% is the target for the RAL group so they can look to de-list Villa from the Stock Exchange, I'm fairly sure they'll have sailed passed that target.

Former Celtic captain Jackie McNamara, who is now at Wolverhampton Wanderers, says that the transfer of Stilian Petrov was the bargain of the summer. Full article: Click Here

Looking forward to the Lerner interview. I've read plenty, but don't think I've actually heard him speak yet.

Hi Jon I like this idea of a daily news bulletin that you so eloquently "spice-up". You seem to be "faster to the draw" than the official AV site and refreshingly, less politically correct. Do you intend to make it a "regular" ? I hope so!

Hi Jon, for those of us who work from dawn till dusk with no TV, anychance you can give us a summary of the Lerner interview, Cheers chap, and I wholeheartedly agree with the villacross (ahhhh for the days before it was a jobcentre)

What did Lerner say?

Again a Villa Times article full of positives and upbeat stories. Six weeks ago that was an impossibility. How times have changed.
