Baros On Villa's 'New Direction'

The good news is getting better with the news that Milan Baros is ready to return to action for Aston Villa.

The Czech Republic international injured himself in training before the World Cup began and hasn't made an appearance since.

However last seasons top scorer for the Lions is now targeting next weekends game against West Ham.

He told CTK, 'I've been training regularly for a week. I should be on the bench after the international break. I'm happy the leg is finally okay after months of recovering.'

He also says the arrival of Martin O'Neill (still pinching yourself at those words?) means its a 'new direction for us and so far we've been getting used to the new regime, but the results have been good.'

I still say, despite his detractors, that Baros is quality and with the right attacking play and good supply, he'll bag a hatful of goals for us this season.

This season Hopefully we will see the best of Baros especially now we have a manager
Christo
Agreed. He is a quality player, no doubt. IMO he has lacked commitment to the club, but hopefully MON will motivate him in the right way. He could be fantastic. Time will tell.
The Usual Suspect
Now that is good news.

Its interesting isn't it, whereas before the players were wondering whether the club was good enough for them suddenly now the question is whether the players are good enough for the club!
andrew144
IMO thats how it should be - whether you are good enough or not Andrew144 - Still not sure about Baros but without his goals last season????

I hope Im wrong, but I cant seem to forget the Baros Interview before the world cup, in a nutshell...... I need a good world cup and I will leave Villa for a top club... I have been unable to find the artical on line.
col8
He needs to do his talking on the pitch not through the the media.

the baros thing is a funny one. MON will motivate him no doubt, you gotta remember who (mis) managed him last season. he will enjoy petrov being there. if he dosen't get real, sell him. simple.

I agree. So this means he's stayin for good? Should I ready myself to be worried come the Januray transfer window? This bloke is gunna shine
AussieVilla
Give him til January to prove himself under O'Neill. If he can't do it by then, he never will so sell him. He's got potential, but unless he picks up his game between now and then Villa should be looking for a real, proven striker.

I think Baros wil be a revelation under MON and will be very important to us this season aithough i believe Angel will be our top goalscorer with Baros contributing with goals and many assists. Lets hope they both stay injury free.

Honestly when fans criticise the teams class player and leading scorer you have to wonder what criteria they define support by. Like Barry another until last season boo boy target, many Villa fans wouldn't know quality if it spit in their face and kicked em in the balls. Amazing really O'Neill gets such good sometimes OT press perhaps its the CV he carries making the numpties hise in the shadows foe a while. We'll no doubt see as soon as we lose 2 on the trot.

HE HAS THE ABILITY TO BE A CLASS ACT IF HE CAN GET THE RIGHT PASSES AND LOOK MORE INTERESTED
villasw
A little dissapointed he has not committed to the club after Barry and Melberg. Hopefully he can help overturn the Hammers double on us last season
irish villa
Great player, so great news he is staying. Can you blame him for saying he wanted out under O'Dreary? I bet most of the players did.

Proven international quality striker, his return to the fold is another huge boost. It will be good to see him back in first team action.
