James Milner Better In Claret & Blue

Great news, James Milner obviously listened to the advice of the fans around by me on Sunday and has decided claret and blue suits him better because the Newcastle winger is apparently on his way to Villa Park for talks on a permanent move. The BBC is saying he will move to Villa in a £4million deal.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at Villa and has now been given permission by Newcastle to talk over a permanent transfer.

A Villa statement said: 'The club can confirm that James Milner is travelling down to the West Midlands to discuss a permanent move to Villa.'

Great news if he signs and i'm sure he will. Another young and talented player - one of our best last season and one who will improve over time and under Martin O'Neill's guidance.

A solid if unspectacular signing, some of the players must have told MO'N what a prospect he is and how much they enjoyed playing with him last season. A good bit of business.

Signing milner for £4m doesn't get my pulse raising, but he is a flexible player that could improve and obviously got on well with team and fans last year. I hope we make one big shock signing today just to cap of a good deadline day. Defoe is looking most likely.

But we just bought a midfielder in Petrov. We need to fix the defence up a bit. But still, good player, he'll be good for us indeed

I think you canned the last forum - doesn't matter - If Milner signs - what does this mean for Hendrie? I'd welcome Milner back because imagine how he will improve under MON stewardship!

Milner did not look happy playing for newcastle, no where near as fluid as he was when he played for us, and he was one of our few highlights last season, as for Defoe, a short quick striker, do we need one??? I think that very shortly he will not be fit to lace gabbys boots, that boy is quicksilver, and getting better all the time, but one things for sure whatever MON decides is fine by me, havn't lost the silly grin off my face since he became manager.

I think the defence is fine. We have a mix of youth and experience. There are eight defenders in the squad not including barry. No, competition for Angel would be good as we have 3 very similar strikers. I'd have liked to see Vince Grella from Parma (hold midfield role) and he very young to - 25/26?

Good signing, no doubt will improve under MON. Any more rumours? Hope we get a striker, defender, holding midfielder before midnight. It must be a wind up Tevez and Mascharone have gone West Ham?
