Spurs Striker Linked To Aston Villa

Spurs Striker Linked To Aston Villa

Well, well, well. No action all summer then all of a sudden a flurry of rumours and reports in the press.

The Mirror claim that Martin O'Neill has £30million to spend and one of his targets is out of favour Spurs striker Jermain Defoe. The report claims Villa will make a £9million offer for the England International. Defoe surely can't be happy on the bench at Spurs and the arrival of Berbatov and return signing of Mido could well push the young forward further down in the pecking order.

The 23-year-old might just be looking for a move to push his England credentials and now Villa have the best manager in the country, why not Villa?

The whole point of signing Mido though was so Spurs have 4 good strikers, so move along Villa. You've been big again for 5 mins, so dont get your hopes up. COYS

Jol wants 4 strikers (his words) so I doubt he'll go guys. Also just bought a large house in Chigwell and is happy down south. Still, you have money to burn but I can't see it being used till the Jan window.

Is Defoe likely to swap the streets that are paved with gold for a life in a deprived and economically decimated hell hole off the M6. Is he likely to want to swap playing with the talents of King, Keane, Robinson, Lennon and Berbatov for the journeyman has beens such as Baros, Hendry, Melberg and Bouma. You may have Martin O'Neil, but even with he can't perform miracles.
This is the year!

Not 100% sure about this one. 1 goal in 17 England games! Spurs reserve striker! £9 Million??? Might be worth a punt at £3-4 million. I would rather see a young up and coming target man to give Angel some competition. In Baros, Moore and Agbonlahor we have three similar players and Defoe is no different (or better) than them. I think Mido might be a better option than Defoe. Or Nugent from Preston. However I would prefer to go for proven world class, rather than the names I have mentioned.

another link is: Lyon winger Sidney Govou who has been told he can leave Lyon if the right offer arrives and has been a long-term target for Fulham boss Chris Cocomes along. The Times say Villa and Villarreal are after him.

So Spurs are buying Mido so they have 4 good strikers??? Who are the other 3 going to be then?? Maybe they are just jealous that they have not got as much home grown British talent in their team. Moore, Whittingham, Agbonlahor, Barry, Samuel, Davis, Gardner, Ridgewell, Cahill. Looks like the premeir leagues most average club has ideas above their station again. One season of coming fifth is nothing to shout about. I think Spurs fans should compare their record with ours in the Premier League before coming on here gobbing off. Defoe who?

'Is Defoe likely to swap the streets that are paved with gold for a life in a deprived and economically decimated hell hole off the M6." How dare he talk about Wolverhampton like that!
