Kevin Phillips Moves To WBA

West Bromwich have completed the signing of Aston Villa striker Kevin Phillips.

The fee was 700,000 and he will wear the number 21 shirt.

The 33-year-old has agreed a two-year contract

Phillips said: 'I'm delighted to sign. When I look at West Brom's squad you can see they've managed to keep hold of most of the players from last season. It's a strong squad. I've spoken to the manager here and I have great respect for him. I feel the club has got an excellent chance of going straight back up this season.'

Adding on the Baggies official site: 'I spoke to Bryan Robson for a couple of hours and had a good chat. He told me what he wants from me and the way the club is going forward. I'd like to be a part of that and can't wait to get amongst it now.'

Good luck Kev, hope you fire the Baggies back up to the Prem!

Good business by Villa. His winning goal at the Sty was worth the original transfer fee!

Maybe Baros will have to stay now.

If WBA get back up half the league will be taken up by clubs that begin witn W. Good business though and good to see there is some squad sorting out happening.

What did Quinn say to him to make him go to WBA?

Nial Quinn probably said "Now Kevin I want you to come here, we've got a good squadon of honest lads" Phillips has thought "he sounds like o`leary, ***** that!"
murph
it seems obvious to me. Quinn told him who the new sunderland manager would be (o'dreary) and it scared him so much he was willing to play for the tesco carrier bags.

Sad to see KP leave he was not able to give us his best, he came to Villa at a time when the Manager was clueless. He is a decent bloke who will give the boggies his best. IDK if he will be with them for the whole 2 years as if they make the Premiership I think he may be found wanting for pace. Good Luck Super Kev!!

Milner, De La Cruz, Phillips and now i hear Berson has been sold to Levante. thats 4 members of the 1st team squad gone..! i really hope we make a few additions before the deadline. but i have every faith in MON, just hope the takeover does not restrict us until it is done and dusted.

Super Kev will produce the goods at The Hawthorns. Playing alongside John Hartson they'll make a pretty fearsome strike partnership. The key though of course is Kev remaining fit and available. Good luck to him. Its been said before, and is probably getting somewhat boring, but I have to say it all the same. Thanks Kev for 'that' goal.

good luck kev, see u back at the villa next year.

Its a good move for him, he's probably looked at sunderlands results and thought 'no ta!'. all the best to him, he'll always be a villa hero. Scum vs Baggies will be extra intresting now!

I feel a little sorry for SKP. None of the Villa strikers were ever gonna do well under DOL with him chopping and changing all the time as he did. Would have loved to see Baros and SKP given a run together. Good business by Villa tho as he is too old now.

Disappointed about this. Feel he was an excellent purchase by us and he would of scored more had he not been hampered by the injury he had. A great link-up striker who bags many. The Baggies will do well with him. It obviously shows MO'N has faith in Moore and Agbonlahor though.
