Where Will Villa Finish This Season?

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Carlosio, where can Villa (realistically) finish this season?

62% said top half of the table and a further 13% said mid table.

3% thought we'd be sucked into another relegation battle and 2% (our blue nose mates I assume!) think we'll be relegated.

That left 5% thinking we'd be title contenders and 15% predicting Europe finishing in the top 6.

top 8 if we buys players is realistic

I think Ill get myself to the bookies and see what price to finish with a European place, I have confidence in our manager and players (including those to come).

A few injuries and we're really in trouble in some areas so I'm not getting carried away - I don't think Martin O'Neill is either. He said himself enthusiasm doesn't get you that far although it helps. A lot rests on what Juan Pablo decides to do. But I'm going top 10.

c'mon guys, other teams have been strengthening consistently while we have stood still. Lets not put too much pressure on the manager or the players just yet. Lets sign some quality and then I think we can get excited. I will be happy if we can stay clear of the relegation battle.

lol who voted for title contenders I dont think that is realistic for this season

I reckon 9th/10th at Christmas is do-able, allowign us to buy players in the transfer window and push for Europe.
paranoid_ormandroyd
8th unless we get a lot of Christmas presents in the January sales.

8/1 on betfair 2 finish top 6.i think its a great bet especially if we are top ten by january and o'neill gets some money to strengthen the squad 4 the remainder of the season.

Mid table - anywhere between 15th and 8th. Europe if I carry on dreaming.

I voted for title contenders. Why not? I never thought O'Neil would come. I never thought Ellis would leave. I never thought we'd be on the verge of being taken over by an American Billionaire. I never thought we'd get a point off Arsenal. I've given thinking things are impossible this season, so Premier League Championship, here we come!

We could finish anywhere from fifth to sixteenth. Everything is up in the air right now. A lot depends on who we can bring in, can we finally have strength in depth, can we keep the key players injury free? Can we keep firing on all cylinders until January when presumably decent cash will be available for a second half push?
