Should Angel Be Played?

We asked, in a poll suggested by harkcombr, whether Angel should continue to be played?

72% said yes, with Milan Baros when fit.

16% said no, he should be sold.

5% said yes, with Gabriel Agbonlahor - Angel Gabriel yeah? And another 5% said he should be used as a substitute.

That left just 1% wanting him paired with Kevin Phillips and 1% saying he should play with Luke Moore.

I see it as Baros V Angel, and something o neil said makes me think he is quite keen on baros. Long term think MON will dispense with both, and have target type man in.

I heard that Angel was very poor yesterday
Christo
i really hope that when he's fit O'Neill will be able to get the best out of baros - lets see some of the form he shows for the czechs! when that happens Angel will just be warming the bench, especially if gabby and Moore keep playing well
Crossman
I think you'v e all missed the point, Baros's and Angel's styles of play complement each other where as Baros's style of play is too similar to Moores for them to form an effective partnertship. As for Gabby, I see him as more of a right winger, the way O'Neill played him so effectively yesterday.
Villain Of The North
Christo what you heard was wrong..! Angel was great and worked his socks off holding the ball up and defending. The whole team should be given credit for a great battling display. Yes Angel should continue in attack.
deemz
There is only 1 Juan Pablo Angel !!!!! Stick at it JPA , 20 goals this season is on the cards !! Up the Villa ! !
jaspervilla
You just got to play Angel. What he needs are the chances in the six yard box. Some creativity from midfield will resolve the issue.

Agree with deemz. Juan Pablo had a decent game yesterday, leading the line under difficult circumstances. He played well. Played alongside Baros if we ever get to see that partnership take off, I think we'll have a first rate strike duo. JPA is the latest player who its fashionablr to knock. It weren't so long ago that GB was the target of the boo-boys.

Agree with deemz and glensider. Angel played well, held the ball up and worked incredibly hard. He didnt get much support from the wide men so was never going to get too many chances.

There will always be fans who feel the need to pick on players, but a lot of Angels bad form was caused by the uncertainty of his situation under DOL, step back and give Angel and the rest of the boys a break. they have lacked security, support and true leadership, times are changing and this villan believes that Angel can once again light up Villa Park with his magic. UP THE VILLA
steff_the_villan
He shouldnt be sold at all if that is what the poll is getin at. If utilised properly he is a superstar. Last sason he wasnt good at all, but who would under DOL. You heard how he had planned to leave if DOL stayed on.

As a critic of Angel and having been at the game on Saturday, I thought his performance was excellent. Given the circumstances he held it up well and worked hard.

Let's face it, if we had a decent goal scorer at VP then he wouldn't be played! At the moment we only have 2 inexperienced youth team products, old boy Phillips and an injured Baros. If we could get 3.5m for him then definately sell him and look at up and coming Champtionship forwards e.g. Ashton, Bent, AJ, McSheffry.. Everyone else can find these guys... lets get one.

angel is the man, have faith, he just needs to get a bit of confidence back and a bit of service and he will score goals.look what he done in dol's first season(20 odd goals) and now we have a real manager 2 get him up 4 the season ahead, right him of at your peril and also worked his socks of saturday 2.he up 4 it ok.
Belfast Villain
leelindsay, the guy from the Championship we really ought to take a look at, if indeed we haven't already done so, is David Nugent of PNE. I've twice seen him play live, and he's a premiership quality striker in my opinion. Having said that though, the premiership clubs must have watched him, and nobody's snapped him up, so maybe I'm missing obvious flaws in his game.
