Baros Talks Planned

Martin O'Neill is returning from the pre-season friendly tour of Germany and Holland in the hopes of convincing a few players that their future lies at Villa.

He has already said he would like to keep Gareth Barry but also added he won't stop any unhappy players from moving on. He said about Barry, 'I had a brief conversation with Gareth Barry. I did not get a firm commitment from him, one way or another.'

He is also looking to hold talks with Milan Baros who has been unable to feature in any pre-season games due to the injury he picked up in the World Cup for the Czech Republic.

O'Neill told the official site: 'I want to see Baros over the weekend and I think it's important to introduce myself to him - let him know there's a manager in and around the place now.'

Baros was our top scorer last season despite an injury hit campaign.

I think the club need to more more open about Baros's latest injury. Not heard anything as to the severity of it and how long he is likely to be out for.

I was sceptical when we bought Baros, I certainly didn't think he was worth the money we eventually paid for him, but that was typical Villa, buy expensive and sell cheap. I trust all that will change. Baros's stock is quite low now after his injury-hit last season and an invisible World Cup campaign. He'd do well to stay put and let MO'N try to work his magic on him - if O'Neill wants him of course.

baros doesnt strike me as the kind of person that can be commited to a club but hes definatly commited 2 his country

I'am happy to leave the squad Ins n outs to mon, I've said this all along, if they don't want to be part of this great club, then its good bye from mon, and ******off from me and thats it in a nutshell. goodnight

I have a feeling MO'N could change Baros into a very useful striker for us.
Tierney
i think he is a useful striker anyway, all we need now is the midfield set up to pass the ball forwards and provide the strikers with some crosses and through balls. Would love to see Baros stay and become a holte end legend. I can't understand why some are so against him, I think he is quality.
The Fear
Sell him he causes too many bad atmospheres.
Burnsy
We have no trouble up front, they just need more support from the mid. And as if Baros wouldnt be useful if he stays and as if he wont be doing better now that DOL is out of the picture. I really want him to stay, if he was top scorer last season with the put-down manager, who knows what he can pull out this season. If he does stay, he'll come out of his shell

It would be a huge plus, and give the club a great lift, if MON can convince Baros that there's a bright future ahead at Villa Park, and that he should remain on board and pledge his immediate future to the club. Baros is a 'name' player, something we are very short of, and his mere presence would surely act as a spur to other quality players that we are interested in bringing into the club.
