If You Could Ask The Manager?
With an apparent rush for tickets and a renewed optimism following the popular arrival of Martin O'Neill, it seems some fans want to know more about our new manager.
The last poll on Vital we asked if Martin O'Neill was the right man for the job, 97% said 'Stupid question, of-course he is!', 2% were unsure and just 1% said no!
The fact he has arrived to such a fanfare got me thinking (dangerous I know) and I thought I'd pose the question for you to answer in the forum and article comments.
If you could ask Martin O'Neill one thing, what would that be?

What was he drinking when he decided to manage aston villa? What he realistically hopes to achieve at the club over the next 3 seasons? Will he take over at united after he's had enough of the midlands?

with the right input we can be just has big a club as man u on the pitch, we will never compete with them at selling nic nacs, but would we want to, get the right people in and you never know

can you see any problems attracting big names bag to VP? people like SWP and Joe Cole at chelsea will probably be warming the bench this year with the players they've bought, are these the sort of names you will look to attract ? We are a massive club, but we need UEFA at least, the best players wont come to a club not in Europe. do you agree that this needs to be a prioity ?

If we can get into uefa just by winning a cup or gettin 2 the final and playin chelsea then we will become a top 6 club as we will attract gd standrd of players with MON, then with those decent player quilfy 4 the champion league and then will be as gd as united jst not with the history. it may take 4 or 5 seasons but it will happen

i hope he turns it round for you, fingers crossed he will, i am a long suffering spurs fan so i know what your pain is like! all i can say is keep the faith, 2 years ago we were in the same position, but tke a leaf from our book, it can be done, i would say we are as close to man u, arse, liverpool, chelsea than anyone has got so it can be done. obviously, dont want you to over achieve though!!

i agree wiv u tht it can b done elmo. i remeber wen martin jol first tuk charge of spurs and he wud say i want to get this club fightin 4 europe wiv the aston villas and the newcastles. no1 has put us in that chatagory since but in a few years ppl will be talking about us like tht again.

And on a more serious note... do you intend to continue the good work done by Villa's youth set up by giving youngsters like Moore, Agbonlahor and Cahill their chance to shine or will you be bringing in more experienced players at the expense of their development?
