What Does MON Arrival Mean?

Vital Villa asked if Martin O'Neill comes in (which obviously he now has), what does that mean to you?

62% said O'Neill must know that Ellis IS going.

29% said the boycott of Villa Park remains until Ellis is gone.

5% said the status quo remains until Ellis goes

1% said well done Doug, now leave

and 3% claim Ellis has done well and should stay. So thanks to our Blue nose mates for that one!

I recon that he's done that to escape if Doug goes back on his word.

I don't think it's a coincidence that MON signs on the day that Lerner returns to the UK. ;)

i hope it was just a safty net for him incase the undead doug decides that the bilionaire Randy cant afford the 900 million he is asking or what ever stupid valuation he has put on his shares.that way MON can walk away from a chairman who always goes back on his word.Guys think its about time we start backing the team again and try to get a buzz back at VP support the new manager and give the team a support they can be proud of.We can still protest against Doug but the team need to know we are behind them 100%

I don't understand. the manager can walk away from a 4 year contract - just as easily as a i year. He quits just the same. What this does is make him easily poached, as any club would only have to pay nominal compensation.

I agree ooahPaulMcgrath he has stated he wants to be here for a long time but the one year thing is just in case ellis does a u turn.

Hope this is academic, and I know I sound like an old record BUT no way will I set foot in VP whilst HDE remains in charge. Although if I were a betting man I would bet that this time next week I would have a shiny new season ticket in my hand after all these sad years!
If not then it looks like I remain an away day die-hard only.
I simply cannot believe a smart bloke like MON would come to Villa to work under HDE. Never in a million years. I hope MON knows something that we don't and MON is preparing to mould a Villa side with the backing of a reasonable amount of investment behind it.

My understanding is that it is a one-year rolling contract, which seems pretty normal nowadays. But what does the arrival of MON mean? It means that for the first time since Ron Saunders Aston Villa have a manager capable of convincing both the fans, players and other Premiership teams that the club means business, we are out for sustained success and are capable of achieving it. (Perhaps this is a little unfair on Ron Atkinson, but don't let the facts get in the way of a good story).

Does that mean we can finally get rid of the pic of O'Dreary from the top banner ? And maybe a grim reaper in behind Deadly !

The difference about the arrival of Ron Saunders and Martin O'Neill though, is that Saunders arrival was hardly greeted with open arms by supporters. He was certainly not the supporters choice. We were in the old second division though, so obviously the bigger names weren't going to touch us. Dont bother me at all this one year rolling contract. Who can blame O'Neill for prefering it to say a firm 4 year deal? As has been said above, Martin has a get-out should Ellis start playing his games.

Saunders - don't forget when he arrived we were at best a mediocre mid table 2nd div side under Vic Crowe

By the way ...Can we change the site banner to read 14 managers and still no success because technically that would be correct if only temporarily.

I hope O'Neill is a success but of course I was happy when O'Leary came and when he signed the contract extension so now I need convincing. Mr O'Neill please show me improvement before I offer blind faith

Don't forget that MON still has a wife in treatment, the one year rolling could just be his way of not been tied down too much due to his family problems, and I believe I speak for more than just myself when I wish MON and his wife all the best luck in the world, the saviour of villa park, hopefully. a loving husband definately, Good luck MON

I think the roleing contract mite be for his wife in case he needs to pull out or for the new owners in case they don't want him.
