I still say I'd have made a good manager, but I guess that isn't a bad record!!!! ;-))

I have my doubts too. Ellis may well see Oneills appointment as his last chance to win something as chairman.

He seems to like his 5 year spells at clubs eh? Apart from Norwich that is.

This is all part of the master plan. The takeover will happen - it would make sense that part of the deal would be for Ellis to make this appointment and then sail off into the sunset. The stand will keep his name for a certain amount of time, he'll retain his parking spot and his seat, and that will be that. It's all about pride.

This is Doug's parting gift to the Villa fans. The takeover will happen. Why is Doug flying out today and back tmrrw? Must be takeover business a foot.

Was telling the wife the same thing last night, Skeggy. If he didn't need to be back in B6 then he'd hang around with the pre-season tour and have a free holiday. Out on Sat back on Sun, board meeting on Monday, Lerner in the country. I'm gonna go and buy some more cigars!

Ooah does your missus glaze over like mine when ever Villa is mentioned. I honestly believe Doug is nearing the exit door.

Ellis will be gone soon, o'neill would never have joined us if he knew deadly was staying!

Thats what I keep telling myself samtozer. Just hope I'm/we're right. With Ellis still around then theres no doubt that the glittering partnership that we're all craving remains incomplete, but surely the old boy knows only too well that appearing alongside O'Neill at the press conference, truly was his swan song.

Not a bad way to go out either, bringing in the man that most of us beleive has what it takes to restore Villa to the very top, and when was the last time a Villa manager spoke about aiming to become european champs again. I like O'Neills style, humble but ambitious and positive. I actually quite enjoyed Doug's banter, maybe has something to do with a releif of presure for both me and him, he got his man and is selling up and I didn't have the disapointment of a Souness or the like.

I think we could't get a better manager if we tried world class. I agree Ellis himself is willing to go, Must be Randy if he's flying.
