Can Villa Fans Start Dreaming?

According to reports Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner is looking at investment opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Obviously the talk of the town is that he is looking to buy Aston Villa and he is definitely in the country with talk of a board meeting on Monday.

Could we truly be this close to the winning line now? Yup. My opinion is Doug can't not sell now, the fees from Rothschild would be prohibitive if he rejected decent bids.

A fan called Liam did ask Doug when he was going yesterday as he followed Martin O'Neill to greet the fans, his answer was 'I'm not' but he simply has to and my information is he will.

Bill Bonsiewicz, a Browns spokesman, refused to be drawn on whether Randy was looking to bid for Villa 'But he is exploring business options, including in the United Kingdom where he's been involved in the business community since 1993,' Bonsiewicz said. 'He's always maintained other businesses outside the Browns.'
It seems there is a board meeting on Monday, could we dare to dream?

The rumour that MON would be appointed as soon as Lerner's bid was submitted was going around last week. O' Neill was appointed on the day that Lerner arrived in the UK. Co-inkidenk? Me thinks not :)

But lerner still hasnt place a formal bid, which doesnt seem right to me. If he wants the club surely he'd have bid by now?

As long as Dusty Doug doesn't use it as an excuse to stay on for another 5 years.!

One interesting comment - why throw all that experience and contacts away - Ellis on I'll sell in weeks not months - their words not mine - As far as we know, only one consortium has said this - Neville - Could Ellis be selling to Neville/Petchy? ....I'LL GET IT DUCKY POOS (thats for Deano so he might read it)

Hearing Ellis actually confirm that yes, he wants to sell, makes me believe that the old boy is actually prepared to stand down. He added though that he wont walk away from the club, and that the prospective new owners actually wanted him to stay on in some capacity. Do we know that Randy Lerner is actually over here, apart from Pat Murphy's say-so? The NFL pre-season games start this weekend I'm sure, so if Lerner is missing the Browns game (if they are scheduled to play that is), then the guy has to be pretty serious, and close to a firm bid.
