Berger Attempts Another Return

Berger is trying yet another return and has his eyes on the trip to St James Park next Saturday.

Berger broke down in training last week but returns again today to try to put his injury ravaged start to his Villa career behind him. It has to be said the omens aren't great, he spent a good deal of time at former clubs Liverpool and more recently Portsmouth on the physio table.

Berger explained 'I had a little setback and went to see the surgeon and he said maybe I came back too quickly, so I have to take it easy for a few days and then I can slowly start training again. If I can start on Monday then great I'd be absolutely delighted. It's been a frustrating start to my Villa career I'd like to play every game, but that's not been possible.'

Talking about his injury nightmares he says 'In the past, I've been out for a while because I've had a few operations on my knee. One of those times it was at the start of the season and after that I was fine. But since I've been here it's just gone on and on I come back and I'm OK for a few weeks and then I get another injury, so hopefully this is the last one.'

You've got to feel for these players, same as Delaney, I know they are well compensated money wise, but all they want to do is play and as soon as they fight their way back into the team, they seem to pick up more injuries or niggles.
