Neville BID IN

Reports are now suggesting that Michael Neville HAS put in a bid for Aston Villa plc.

Details are sketchy but it looks like the much (and long) talked about approach from Michael Neville, who failed in a proposed move last year with the Comer brothers, has finally materialised.

Looks like there is now a two horse race as to who will take power from Doug Ellis.

Interesting and exciting times.

Just Neville so far

Is anyone else hoping that Lerner is successful? He'll blatently have more money, which is surely the priority and he's got a hands-off approach. Did Neville actually bid before or didn't it get that far?

How do we know Lerner has more money? We don't know who is backing Neville's bid...

I'm just happy that the action is actually starting to kick off...may the best man win...as long as they appoint O'Neill and spend millions on new players of course ;)

lerner's experience of running a sports club would put him ahead of neville IMHO

How will we cope with having to be optimistic for a season? :-) Lets see the US bid now pleeeease

I think any take over is great, but personally I would like Lerner. I live in the States (Grew up watching Villa) but Lerner has massive amounts of cash and as said run a very large sports franchise and will invest. This is not a man who wants to come second never mind 10th.

Either is better than Ellis. Just think at the close of the season we were faced with O'deary, Ellis and no new players. We should have a new manager and new owners which for me is dream come true. We can let ourselves be spoilt at the thought of an abramovich type to come and buy the league. Lerner for me too though.

Great to see bids coming in now, this is what we have been promised for so long.

Also it now looks like it isn't just a two horse race, how bizarre is that? You wait over 20 years for a bid and then 3 come along?

I would prefer Randy Lerner as well. For the simple fact we know who he is and what he has to offer. Until we know who is involved in the Neville consortium that fact won't change for me.

At the end of the day, we need this sorted asap. That way the new owners/manager have a couple of weeks to start making their changes. Maybe even making a new signing?! Never thought that would happen this summer!!

I dont think anything needs to be rushed obviously with all our nervous energy we want a resolution but lets get an owner, then a manager and let him decide who he wants to play.

Fair point but just can't help getting excited! I want a new owner, Martin O'Neil in charge and Stead Malbranque in the squad by the end of the week....I better calm myself down or there might be an accident!!

We know more about Randy Lerner in the mere few days since he burst on the scene, than we've ever learned about Michael Neville in twelve months plus.

That's what leads me to think that Lerner would be a better option. When you think about it, what do we know about Neville apart from the fact that he is a Villa fan. So am I, but it doesn't mean I could run a football club. What is his past, who are the backers and in what sector has he been successful?

Neville is refusing to reveal his backers. And apparently he has promised Doug a role in the 'new regime'. Maybe Doris is getting her P45 too, because I can't think what he'd be good for

Thats a concern, why would you want the old chairman to stay on and look over your shoulder? It sounds a little like a bribe, sell to me and you can stay. To me take your 60 mill and get lost.

Exactly. I wouldn't even want him as honorary President or anything like that. Time for him to take his money and go, as there would always be the doubt that he is still pulling the strings

intresting comments on TV from Mr Neville. It appears the consortium has a management team lined up, Martin O'Neill as manager and also a chairman, to take the club forward. I was really impressed by him on the TV he has the vision and knowledge of the club to make improvements where they are needed. I would just be a bit wary of what "Randy" wants from the club, after all money aint everything
