The message and comments have been working overtime on the internet today and although the speculation is exactly that until we get a bid, we've found some useful and positive information on Randy Lerner.
Vital member NY Villa said:
Randy Lerner would be a perfect Chairman he has taken the Browns from a old storied franchise back to the play offs in the last 3 years. From what I know of him over here he has placed smart intelligent people incharge. He takes chances with talent even with spotty history and lets them have an opportunity. My concern is that he knows American Football not the Premiership. But as a Chairman 1000 times better that Ellis because he will invest and he not look to make money just for him. But is he really interested?
Guess that will be a question we'll get answered one way or the other over time.
He added in another comment: Check this out http://www.dawgbones.com It is a site like ours but it gives you some idea of what the fans think of their Chairman...........slightly different from us.
The DawgBones.com site published the following article today:
Browns Owner Looking To Expand
They mention the speculation and say: 'There is president for such a purchase to take place. Current Tampa Bay Buccaneers owner, Malcolm Glazer, purchased Manchester United, another English soccer team, in 2003. Fans of Aston Villa are naturally sceptical, but know that Lerner brings not only experience in owning a professional sports franchise, but a lot of money as well.'
Adding 'Lerner has continued to show a commitment to tradition and a business acumen second to none. He is very much a hands off owner when it comes to everyday events with the club. He hires people and expects them to do their job without having to hold their hand.'
As with any link, in the board room, cheque book open, is when we can all relax!
