Would You Like Souness At Villa?

Would You Like Souness At Villa?

Managers names are, obviously, being bandied about for the vacant position at Aston Villa. What with all the talk of takeovers, lets hope that Doug Ellis doesn't have time to appoint a new man. My understanding is that Martin O'Neil WILL come to Villa but not under Doug Ellis, directly contradicting a story on the Daily Mail online site yesterday.

Other names still in the frame are Roy Aitken, currently caretaker - can't see that happening in a month of Sundays.

Sam Allardyce - not if Doug is in charge, Big Sam would cost too much in compensation.

Gordon 'Sid Cowans' - not convinced he'll be approached, surely if him or McDonald were in the frame, they'd have been appointed caretakever boss?

Graeme Souness - majority of comments I've seen with that link seem to be nnnnoooooooooooooooo! I did a Sky interview yesterday and was asked, I said (despite the fact I like him as a pundit and think he is always good value when interviewed) that he is an average manager with an average record. Doug is a below average chairman with a below average record. So it sounds like a match made in hell for the Villa fans!!!!

Was I right? Our new poll asks if you'd like Souness, who could well be an option if Doug remains as they are 'close' at Villa Park? (Suggested by Michael Bakewell)

I said when DOL went I have had a gut feeling that Souness will take over. He has a lot in common with Doug, Fishing for one. Also they are rumoured to be friendly so I wouldn't be surprised.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I'd rather be a Blue Vose!!!! (Did I just say that? I retract that last statement but it shows just how strongly I feel about keeping the man one described as "The worst manager of Liverpool football club ever", by Ian Perry, radio presenter and renown Liverpool fan, out of the VP hotseat.)

Maybe this will be dougs last payback to us ungrateful fans. Maybe he will rename the holte end, the Souness stand and build a statue of D'OL in the car park.

No Way, he is somewhere about the standard of O'Dreary and we do not want to go there again.

Doug will get my ticket back if he appoints Souness. Never mind Liverpool's worst manager, he's close to being the worst manager ever to manage in the premiership.

Look at the positives from souness as villa manager, he'll bring back the local derby's in the champoinship!! He's the most clueless half wit i've ever seen in charge of newcastle & thats saying something!! he's ruined every club he's ever been to! wouldnt mind a go of his missus tho.

He certainly talks a good talk with his punidtry (if that is such a word?) but he has rarely delivered results anywhere near that when in charge of any English club for sure
