O'Neill To Talk To Ellis Shocker?

According to the Daily Mail, in an article with no quotes or any meat on the bone, suggests that Martin O'Neill is set to take a massive gamble and come 'riding to the rescue of crisis club Aston Villa'.

The Mail claim he has had talks with intermediaries and has agreed to meet Doug Ellis who returns from holiday tomorrow (which is good of him judging by the fact the club tumbled even further into crisis last week!).

O'Neill has said he is ready to get back into the game but I am sure more than a few people might be surprised to hear that he is willing to talk with Doug Ellis again, maybe he is banking on the fact that Doug can't go on forever (I have my suspicions about that though, is Doug Ellis immortal?) and that he will be securely in the Villa hot seat when one of these blinking consortiums finally take the Villa out of the grasp of the Menace of B6!

The majority of fans in the phone in's, forums and polls have backed Martin O'Neill as the only man for the job.

There have been suggestions that O'Neill wouldn't come whilst Doug was still in charge and that he would in-fact wait for a consortium to succeed before taking on the managers role. He has been closely linked with the Michael Neville consortium although I'm sure that group isn't alone in knowing O'Neill would be a perfect choice!

My guess is that whichever consortium buys into the club they'd have to be idiots not to see that Martin O'Neill is THE ouitstanding candidate.

One paper says he won't come whilst Ellis is there and the Mail says they are due to meet! The Express on Sunday said that it would be Souness as he and Doug are friends and Doug taught him how to fish! Is that another sport Ellis invented???

I think you'r wright about Doug being imortal, They should get hold of some Kryptonite to see if that will have any affect. I think O'Neal is hoping Doug will be gone soon. The only reason i could see him taking the job whilst Deadly's there is that it isn't far to travel from where he lives. Maybe they should appoint Cowens as a part time manager untill we see if the latest batch of rummours are true. He's done a great job of the youth team

The media cant even seem to agree as to when Sailor Doug will be back at his Villa Park desk, so as of right now I'm taking with a pinch of salt all suggestions that Ellis is meeting with anyone, anywhere, at any time soon.
