Villa Squad v Walsall For Friendly
Aston Villa squad for tonights friendly against Walsall at the Bescott. Not half as interesting as what some of the banners might say mind you!?

Obviously Martin Laursen is still out as he looks to recover from a career threatening knee injury (he is back in training and apparently doing well now), Thomas Sorenson is out with an injured hand, Olof Mellberg, Patrik Berger, Mathieu Berson (wonder if he will get a chance now O'Dearme has gone?), and the Djemba twins are also out.

I wouldn't jest Douginabox I can honestly see Doug taking over picking the first team. His ego is certainly large enough.

it's the only job he hasn't officially done. It was more tongue in cheek but I agree, you can't put anything past him. He appointed himself Director of Football after all

would think Berger is still in training to get to full fitness, he has been out months and will be some way off ?
The Fear
You can find reasons to explain the absence of all I suppose, apart from our disillusioned Frenchman. There's been no mention of him in the media since we returned for pre-season, so you have to start wondering what the status is concerning his position at the club.
