'If It's Football, It's Vital'

All The Latest Villa News

The rumour mill continues, with talk of two players out, one that might go but nobodies really sure...and nobody in.

Kicking things off, is the shock 'report' that states that Harry 'Wheeler Dealer' Redknapp will come back to Villa with an improved offer for Gareth Barry. Personally I think selling the likes of Barry, when we're struggling for wide players it would be daft to sell one, and I'm none too certain that the reported £4.25million is worth the bother anyway.

Especially when you consider the Sun's snippet that says that our other left sided player, youngster Peter Whittingham (is he still young?) has turned down Sunderland and Notts Forest in favour of going up the road to Wolves for around £500k. Not a bad deal if you ask me, for a player who has struggled really to cope with Premiership life.

Martin Laursen is clearly delighted with his return to action, the defender has been out of action for 10 months after a serious knee injury of a serious nature. After specialist treatment in Italy, Laursen has reported back for pre-season training apparently fit, though I still reckon we should run a sweepstake on who gets injured first!

'It felt good and it was good to be there with the lads. 'I've missed it a lot. It's been hard work in Bologna and it's been tough for me to stay out for so long, but now I'm back and I really believe my knee is fine.'

Villa have signed twins! Swiss U-17 pair Yago and Damian Bellon for an undisclosed fee from St.Gallen. Won't go into too much detail, I think Doug is clutching at straws if he thinks signing academy players is news worth shouting about during the transfer season.

...and finally, goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has recovered from the finger injury he picked up during the international friendly prior to this years World Cup. Lets hope he now uses his working-again finger, along with the rest to actually catch the ball more than the current 50% of the time!

That's all for now, and quite frankly I'm amazed I wrote that much.

Anyone know of any rumours of interest in the club? Are Rothchilds doing anything? Even if its not true please post something to get our hopes up.

our club are a real joke. The way it is being run is a DISCRACE. Our local media should be putting more pressure on the club to let us fans know what is going on or what the agenda/plan is to get villa back on track.

There is no plan and the agenda is for Doug to sit in the director's box playing tiddly winks whilst dribbling and hooting about how one day he will lead Villa to greatness. All this at the age of 142, pointing out that Villa are in fact kings of the Unibond leage , Midlands division (or whatever it's called now) But of course he loves the club so much that investors would come in with the paultry sum of £25 billion for his shares, he'd gladly sell but only if they could guarantee 25p investment every 10 years. As no one has as yet met his conditions for maintaining the standards to which he has built this club, he just cant bring himself to let it go. ;o)

No, no signs or rumours of a takeover bid currently in the air, so looks like the old boy and his cohorts are with us for some time to come yet. Of course, the Comer bros interest is still not officially dead, so that cheers Doug immensely, as that very fact will allow he and his board to refuse to answer every question thrown at them at this autumns AGM.

Laursen's injury must have been very serious if he was out for 10 months after a serious knee injury of a serious nature. At least you still own Milan Baros for a couple more weeks.

Was Doug not that Knight in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? The one with the secret to eternal life...!
