Hamburg Told No Discounts!

Hamburg Told No Discounts!

Villa chairman Doug Ellis DID meet some German's yesterday, however they will have left with something to think about.

Ellis has put across the point that will not be selling top goalscorer Baros for a knock-down price.

: 'We met with representatives from Hamburg today at their request, but their valuation of Milan falls way short of anything that's even remotely acceptable.

'We're certainly not going to sell Milan Baros on the cheap and they've now gone back to Germany. We'll wait to see if there are any further developments.'

For once Doug, you've got it right!

How much would you all say is an acceptable amount? I personally think we should keep him and build the team around him, but if we got £9 or £10 million it would take the sting out of it a little.

Agree Deano. 9m should be the absolute minimum that we are prepared to accept. Like you though, I'd prefer that we kept him. He wont be easily replaced.

this is about the only good thing Doug has done in the past few months. He's our player, we dont want to sell him. If Hambrug want our player they'll have to pay more for him just like any other team would do. Theres now way he should go for less that 7m to cover what we paid for him and any signing on/agent fees

If he stays fit his goals could keep us up. Thats worth more than £9m if you ask me. Hopefully he will be given a permanent strike partner in the form of JPA and less of the o'leary merry go round as per last season.

£9million? Get out. If you were buying an injury prone player, who can't quite look up enough. from a foreign club who were one of the bottom five in the league, would you be happy to pay that sort of money? £5.5million is about the maximum amount - the same as Emile Heskey

It's all Ellis bluster. Remember how he saved the club £5m by not buying Robbie Keane?! He'll be sold for £6m on deadline day after a summer long pantomime

so ur sayin heskys as gd as baros? i dont think so. he shud b sound 4 9mill. he will become a top quiality striker at a decent club. he was brilliant in euro and he can still produce more. cnt belive doudies actually made a gd decision by not sellin him at a low amount

Didn't know about the Robbie Keane saving, that is very funny, rather have Baros than Hesky any day but what has happened here is that the Villa story has made it to Hamburg so why not start with a low bid. You have to sell to buy right? So far every player link to a move to AV is out, they will come back, I say hold out for 7m but your board will let him go for less.
