Hendrie To Go On Loan?

Championship sides Wolves and Southampton have enquired about taking Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie on loan. The midfielder is yet to start a game following suspensions and injuries although he is now fit and fighting to get back into the team.

He was reported as saying, several weeks back, that if he couldn't get first team action at Villa, he'd consider a loan in order to re-gain match fitness. However he told the official site today: 'I just want games, but I didn't ask to go out.'

Hendrie explained: 'I had a few phonecalls about me going. Southampton asked and I think Wolves did as well - I just want to get games under my belt and there's no reserve games for a couple of weeks. I just want to get back in. I haven't started a game this season and I'm just looking forward to getting back involved. A loan move would've meant games for me. A four or five week loan until the transfer window wouldn't have hurt - it was just an option to get games under my belt. It didn't matter where, it wouldn't have been permanent. It was just something to get me playing and get me some confidence.'

He may however get a chance next week when Villa face a trip to St James Park because James Milner, under the terms of the loan deal system, can't face Newcastle.

He also says that he doesn't want to go on loan, he is committed to Villa but 'It's just a matter of me looking at myself. Next year I'm 29, so it's flying round and I don't want to be looking back at this season and thinking the whole season has gone by and I haven't played many games. Looking back over the past half season I've played about five games which is rubbish really. I had the knee injury, but I need games.'

The midfielder seems to range from a match winning and 100% committed player to one you could only describe as Hendire! Lets hope we get the 100% player back.
